I dont know exactly what they are, and I was hoping someone would have a picture to share so my son and I could see them.

TIA!!

I tried them at Ralph Brennan's Creole Cafe (the counter service at Ralph Brennans in DTD) and was not impressed. They had just made a fresh batch, but I found them greasy and heavy. This from a girl who looooooves doughnuts, elephant ears, etc. Go figure. I don't know quite why, other than they just seemed too greasy, and not very flavorful.

I'd like to try them at Cafe Orleans in DL, I've heard they are better there (the Mickey-shaped beignets!). Be interested to hear any other comparisons.

The Mickey beignets from Cafe Orleans:

These were the first beignets I've ever had and I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a more donut like pastry. They are hollow and not very flavorful. I prefer churros.

Here's the Ralph Brennan's one:

and here's the royal verandah fritter:

I personally like RB one the best.
Never tried the mickey shaped one tho, so I can't say.

They are made with puff pastry so they are hollow. If you've ever had Navajo Fry Bread, they are very similar in taste and texture.

We had some fritters in the RV (kids spotted vegetables in the clam chowder and refused to even consider eating it :confused3 )

I got them for my girls who will eat anything doughy and fried. But, they didn't like these. I tried one and they were terribly greasy - and I like grease :rotfl: . DH and I love the soup in the bread bowl but we can never find anything for the girls to eat. I usually end up buying them popcorn at the vendor who is always right there.

I intended on trying these our last trip, but for some reason it never worked out. This time, I will have to try it. The dipping sauce looks delicious. The only food I went out of my way to try on my last trip was the monte cristo. It was a favorite.

The Mickey ones are really cute! I tried beignets at WDW (POFQ) and wasn't that fussed, I agree with the poster who said they didn't have much flavour. Although they had a ton of powdered sugar on top I didn't feel as if it made much difference. With that said, though, Mickey shaped ones might convert me :rotfl:

We've had them at the Jazz Kitchen and Jazz Kitchen Express. They were good but not amazing. I haven't tried the Mickey shaped ones yet, we had to save SOMEthing for our next trip! LOL I didn't find them too greasy, I just wasn't impressed with the taste. The powdered sugar was fun, we laughed about something and the powder just puffed, which made us laugh harder. :)

I agree with wazowski; those Mickey ones look yummy.

So many things to try next trip... Dole Whip, now Beignets... I'm pretty sure I'm going to find more treats to fill me up once I get in the park too :P

Yep.

The RB place's beignets *look* like real beignets like you'd get at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, but they tasted naaaaasty.

The Mickey shaped beignets at CO are very very VERY good, and even though I'm anti-dipping sauce for beignets, I found the coulie and the other sauce they gave with them to be quite delicious. They only enhanced the taste, they didn't cover up a yucky beignet.

And the fritters at RSV are totally different, but I really liked them, too. They have a sauce that's quite interesting, it's more like a custard.
