Ok I know it's a strange one.
Anyone have a picture of how big the overhead bin's are in PE on virgin?

Just talking about this on the wedding board and it got me thinking.

Also how many people share a bin?

Thanks

It depends where you are seated, upstairs the overhead bins are smaller than downstairs but you do get bins to the side of you, which are about 2 foot long and can hold a small ruck sack quite comfortably, usually works out as one bin per row. Not too sure about down stairs as have not been downstairs on the refitted planes.

Claire ;)

We're going to be upstairs and have the last 2 seats.
I wanted to know for reference incase the flight attendant won't hang my dress and it needs to go in the bin.

Didn't know they called them that, your certainly don't want your dress in the bin :rotfl2:

No coat closet to hang things up in PE I don't believe. There is a cupboard on the upper deck, but I don't think it has hanging space.

There is a cupboard - where they hang coats - in Upper Class. Although don't know whether there is enough space for a wedding dress (although depends on how long and bulky your dress is). Difficult... No-one on the weddings board travelled with a wedding dress on Virgin PE?

The overhead lockers are definitely slightly smaller upstairs but the holdals to the side are wonderful. They make the seat seem much more spacious and they are extremely handy to put bags in.

Regarding the UCS closet, I don't think there would be enough room for a wedding dress.

Personally, I would call VA and ask them about their policy. They must have a standard procedure for dealing with wedding dresses.

There's a galley at the back of the upstairs PE cabin and I'm sure the crew would be willing to hang your dress there if possible - they're very accommodating.

The galley between UC and PE downstairs is smaller, and I don't think there would be room to hang it there. There is a cupboard in the PE section, but, again, I don't think it's big enought to hang a wedding dress.

Why not join the V-Flyer forums and post the question there?

Do you mean the last two seats on the right hand side 80H and K.We have just returned having had those seats out and back.We actually had two bins in that row but don't have any pics I am afraid.

Mary - Yes those are the seats we've got. Did you have the over head bin for yourself? If i've got my own bin then my dress won't need to be hung up. I would rather have it with me anyway so we can get off quicker.

I can't remember if we had an overhead locker to ourselves or if itwas for two rows but as everyone was using the side bins you should be ok.

I can get some piccies of the upstairs bins when we fly home from Vegas in July if that helps?

Claire ;)

I am going PE in 10 days - will be back at beginning of June. I will get pics for you and I will also ask them if there's anywhere to store wedding dresses on board.

We flew Virgin economy in November for our wedding. I had my wedding dress packed into a small suitcase (the same size the flight attendants used) My dress was big but the lady at the bridal shop packed it so neatly with tissue paper into this tiny case that it had no wrinkles in at all when I took it out at the other end.

The case went on as hand luggage and fitted neatly in the overhead bin.

If I were you I would call Virgin and make arrangements. On our flight home I stepped on the plan and a girl tried to tell me that as the flight was full and my case would have to go in the hold (despite the fact it was my only luggage and everyone else had carrier bags overflowing with toys and duty free). I told her it was my wedding dress and was not leaving my sight and she just gave me a dirty look and said I could try and put it in the overhead bin but if it was full she was taking it. When we got to the back of the plane we found that 3 of the bins were empty... and stayed like that at take off!

Just be warned that some people do not understand that our dresses at that moment in time are very important to us (and the fact they cost a lot of money and we don't want them thrown around in hold!)

Ah, thanks guy's.

If you get pic's I would love to see them, I really appreciate it.

Here we go

PE 1

PE 2

PE 3

The last one is quite old but cant see them radically changing the bin design. Should give you a clue on what there is. A quiet word with one or two other passengers would probably secure a bin for just the dress. I know i would oblige if i was there.

Excellent thankyou. I knew I'd seen photos of PE before somewhere and that was it.
I looks as if there is a bin each, (I know im sad! I tried to count the bins and rows of chairs). So as long as they are not filled with cabin stuff I guess I should be OK.

Thanks everyone

Sam
