Anyone have a Kerry Blue Terrier?

We're looking into KBTs, and I was wondering if anyone on the board has one?

Thanks! Our daughter has allergies, and she did really well with the two that the breeder brought to our house. I always like to have different dogs, so this is kind of a unique breed.

I haven't personally had one, but my DH and his family did. His name, you guessed it, Kerry (very original). They also bought him because they are supposedly better for those with allergies. All I can tell you is his family still talks about that dog so much, even though he died of old age 20 years ago. They positively loved him and thought he was the best dog, best pet... They said he had a very funny and sweet personality and was practically convinced he was a person. A little nuts like all terriers, but all and all a wonderful companion. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for a good story about a Kerry. We had a cocker for 13 years, and we miss him terribly. It's taken me almost 3 years to get to the point where I want another pup in the house. One breeder we talked to said that they are big problem solvers, and traditional training doesn't always work with them. I know we'll have our hands full!

They always said he was very well-behaved except for the time in the park he grabbed an ice cream cone out of a small child's hand. Luckily the little boy and his dad thought it was cute and didn't get upset and my DH's dad bought the boy another ice cream.

Stealing food was my cocker's worst trait! He loved my nieces and nephews when they were small because they were close to the ground and he could steal cookies!
