My 6 year old son has severe pectus excavatum (sunken chest), he can actually lay on the floor and eat popcorn out of the dent in his chest. I was wondering if anyone else here has a child with that condition. Also if you've seen the new Wyndam commercial with the woman sitting by the pool? She holds up a magazine when she sees the men at the pool and the pictures in the magazine might be in a tux or a nice outfit etc. The last one she holds up you see a guy getting out of the pool and the picture is of a man with a nice body. Well she takes down the magazine and he has a sunken chest and something is said about her maybe not wanting to stay and she cringes. I'm just a little taken aback by this because it is a physical deformity that without surgery you can't change. I had thought about writing a letter but I just had to vent and wonder if anyone else has seen it? :worried:

I am teaching my girls NOT to make fun of people.

I think it's unacceptable for a corp to do the same.

I think an emai or snail mail letter is in order.

i thought that guy was just thin and pale, as opposed to muscular and tan. I am sorry you were taken aback.

Tacky.

Would a man doing the same (magazine "playmate type" photo vs flat chested woman) thing be tolerated, or thought clever? How about beauty vs the reality of an ugly woman? Slim, fit woman vs obese woman? (Well, I guess that could be changed without surgery) But I think you get my point.

DS15 has Pectus Excavatum. I'll have to look for that commercial (so that I can get mad, too). A boy down the street had surgery for it...it was quite a big deal. Of course, he is a big time swimmer (on the way to State right now), so that was a factor. My DS also has Asperger's Syndrome, so he's not really into personal appearance, so it really doesn't bother him.

I've been searching for a link on the internet so others can see it, no luck yet.
