Anyone hava a snapfon?

We are looking for a phone for my disabled sister. She cannot push the buttons on a regular phone as they are too small. We are thinking this might work but cannot find out if she can use the Net10 minutes from Walmart with it. We have tried calling all the 800 numbers we can find and are not getting anyone who has any idea on the other end of the line. Any information would be helpful!!!

It's doubtful. Both Net10, Tracfone and Tracfone's "Straight Talk plan,"- which are the exact same company for each, does not allow swapping of minutes to their different brands. Each phone has dedicated software inside that works for that specific brand. Net10 only works for Net10 phones that have the dedicated Net10 software inside.

According to the Snapfon website, they seem to have comparable rates compared with Net10.

Their phones are "unlocked" meaning you can swap out the SIM card from another phone and bring the service over.

I know that Tracfone SIM cards are NOT interchangeable with another phone - not even another Tracfone. That is because much of the info for the account is stored inside the software of each phone, and not in the SIM cards. When people upgrade to a newer Tracfone and transfer their number & service to the new Tracfones, they have to input a bunch of codes into each phone's software, in order to do the transfer as it is stored in the phones.

Thanks! That is how I read it too- that they would not work with net 10. She is saying she wants to stay with net 10 and just wants a new phone. We are trying to follow her wishes but it looks like it is not possible. When we called net 10 they couldn't tell us anything except the locked and unlocked information and snapfon didn't speak enough English to get that we didn't have a problem with our phone. They didn't understand why we would call if we didn't have the phone. It felt like that commercial "hello this is Phylis"

Ack!

You know what sucks? Probably all three phone brands are probably owned by the same one guy. He's the richest name in the world, (above Bill Gates.) He owns some major Spanish telecommunications companies. I think Tracfone is one of them. Too bad he couldn't have his own phones companies at least be swapable with each other.

My mom has a Tracfone with a gazillion minutes on it. She has eye problems. I'd love to get her a phone with bigger buttons and bigger readout on screen.

How much bigger do you need? I have a Driod X and in landscape mode the "keys" are quite large. It is a touch screen vs a real keyboard for texting and the number pad for dialing in the normal mode fills almost the whole screen. Would something like this work? It also has predictive text so if she texts a lot it could simplify it for her.
