Anyone had a stroller stolen?

We thought our stroller had been stolen for a good fifteen minutes once........
When we exited Country Bears last April we couldn't find our stroller anywhere. We were searching all over and finally concluded that it had been stolen.
All of a sudden, duh, it came to us!
You always exit Country Bears around the corner from where you enter, and where most park their strollers!

We felt so stupid!

But no, never actually had it stolen.

We have never had a stroller taken but there were times I wondered if it was a good idea to leave it in certain areas or not. After a while though, DS didn't like strollers and we had to graduate to a backpack which he loves.

When most folks here worry about expensive strollers, they are worrying about full-featured imported umbrella-fold models, most commonly Maclarens, which are usually over $200 at retail in the US.

Heh. We have two Maclarens, just as you describe and got them specifically for travelling (though they are our favoured everyday strollers now too!).

Our unique identifying feature is the fact that we often snap them together into a double stroller -- one side red, the other side blue -- so it's an unusual contraption and not something picked up by accident. We also often have Canadian luggage tags on 'em. It would have to be theft, and there's only so much we can do to lessen the risk. Taking cheap strollers would make for unhappy adults and unhappy kids, since the amenities and 'benefits' of the Maclarens suit us all much better. (Believe me, we tried to find cheaper ones which suited our collective needs, esp since we needed to buy two!)

But can you lock the wheels like put a bike lock through the spokes making it movable (by dragging to satisfy the fire codes) but not really usable for someone either stealing it or mistaking it for their own.

We did this one trip. I knew I couldn't lock it to anything, but I did lock it through the spokes making it not usable. Worked great.

You can lock your stroller as previously mentioned, but not to anything. We've never had our stroller stolen, but one day it was pouring rain, so I bought a poncho and attached it to my son's stroller to keep the cloth seat from being soaked, well, we emerged from the Living Seas and guess what? Somebody had found a way to keep their child dry using our poncho. Poor DS had a soaking wet bottom for the rest of the day. This was three years ago and he still mentions it everytime we go to WDW.

i cannot believe this! that is just totally rude!

We have an instep safari TT double jogging stroller. The front fender is just attached by screws so we took it off and spray painted it red with a paint for plastics that we found at home depot. I then wrote our last name in big block letters with a black sharpie across the front of the fender. Our first trip to WDW is in Dec. so we have not taken it there yet but we take it to Sea World (Texas) and it really helps because their rentals are blue canvas jogging strollers that look a lot like ours. If we bring it to WDW I will also do some identifying thing on the push bar. I'm not so much worried about someone stealing it as I am being able to easily identify it in a sea of strollers. I would think that it would work, though, as a deterent to someone walking off with it

Yeah...we just had our first child, a little girl, a month ago yesterday and I bought a Bugaboo Frog, in Orange, about 2 months before she was born. My wife used to crack up as I pushed it around our apartment...practicing. We're taking it in December on our next, and our daughters first, trip to see Mickey. Can't wait!!

i have been there in the past year with two different peg perego strollers both worth over 200 each. we have never had a problem. I agree with some of the other people on the board I am not going to bring my dd to disney and have her in a seat that she is not padded and cheap. What fun would that be for her.

We took our maclaren techno this last trip and I did sweat it a lot before we left on the trip. I thought about buying a lock for the wheels but never did. I did buy a very large lime green luggage tag that I attached to the back of the stroller and always left our SkipHop attached to the back of the stroller. I worried less and less the more times I came out and it was still there. Now that i am not as worried - this will be the time the stroller is stolen It is just the way my luck goes. I have other more expensive strollers that I wouldn't dare bring !! But just to answer a persons question your strollers are covered under your home owners or renters insurance policy. So wether it be your Graco Mac or Frog - it should be covered !!

I think I'd be more worried about someone taking the SkipHop than the Mac Techno - those bags are NICE!

We have been to WDW 6 (or is it 7) times with strollers. Never had one stollen.

We bought a
$50 instep backpack stroller
$200 combi travel savy (3 times) (once to Vero beach too.)
$300 Peg pergo aira twin (2times)

Never worried about them being stollen.

However a Bugaboo brings a whole new meaning to expensive strollers. I don't think I would feel comfortable taking it out of the house! Let alone in puplic! We saw one in person for the 1st time while at WDW. I may be stroller obsessed, but even I can't justify that.

*Tangent.*
WDW in March we saw a family with the double peg pergo with boots that is around $500 for the stroller. However the family insisted that it wouldn't fold down and made the driver "tip" the bus and strap it in. Can you imagaine? I had to ask how they managed to get it to WDW in the 1st place if it diddn't fold. The father said the seats come off. Really the stroller was so loaded down I don't think could, so instead they made all the people on the bus wait 15 min for them to strap it in like a whellechair. Then he looks at my less expenive and very small peg pergo and says "We looked at that one, but thought we might have a had time with doors since it is side by side." I had to say, "yes but it folds flat and only weighs 14 pounds."

Nope; been to Disney 4 times with a stroller and have never had a problem. Plan on taking my own stroller again in Sept.

My friends bought a cute, bright colored, hanging kitchen towel (the kind with a button to hang it from the oven handle). They hang this around the stroller handle. It helps to identify the stroller, and can be wet in a drinking fountain and used to wipe off dirty hands/faces. The one they have is hot pink, and that made it a heck of a lot easier to find their stoller (and would deter anyone from accidentally taking their stroller).

We had a really great Graco with all the cup holder features and trays and stuff...my kid was set!
Well. we parked out front of Crystal Palace for supper and when we got back someone had taken their OLD Graco(same as ours)and took our new one and EVEN switched the Family Name Tag Paper thing I made...

We went to guest services and they offered us a free rental for the remainder of our stay...which now that's all we do=is rent instead of bring ours b/c it so nice to put my younger on in but my big kid can fit still too!

Later, Disney mailed us a stroller that I guess was found and they thought it was ours...it was a different one all together and ragged OUT!

SO, yeah it does happen.
