Hello!!! We will be going to DL and staying at GCH this weekend....28th-1st. We are celebrating my DH's birthday and I would like to surprise him w/ a cake delivered to our room. Anyone have pics of what they got and any suggestions.

Thanks!!

Hi, I don't have pictures, come to think of it I don't think we even considered taking photos when the cake arrived - we were in too much disappointment!

My friend's son was celebrating his 5th birthday (Dec. 2008), we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and she decided to order the birthday cake with the free surprise from room service. Think it cost about $20 or so, the cake is really small and overpriced. Are you familiar with the individual cake portions you can buy from most big name supermarkets? Well the Disney cake we received was probably about that size. The free gift was a small plush Mickey doll, one of those plastic popcorn Disney tubs, a birthday pin, I think that was all.

My friend's son got a kick out of it, so if you think it's something your husband would appreciate try it out. If you're able to, there's supermarkets in the area where you can purchase a larger cake, candles, and balloons for a lot less.

The birthday bucket cakes are not the same thing as ordering custom cakes from Disney Dining. There used to be a thread with pictures of people's cakes, but I can't find it since the search function is gone. :(

Some of the cakes are amazing. I am thinking of doing this in April as we have six first timers in our group :)

Is this something you plan before you get to the resort or can you do it after you check in?

No you definitely need to call ahead of time! And it is only available to onsite guests...the cakes to the room anyway.

Do any of the restaurants in the park do anything like this--a birthday cake? It's my husband's bday when we are there, but we are not staying at a Disney hotel.

The restaurants in the park don't but in the resort hotels restaurants they do . we stayed off site and had DS's cake at storytellers dinner. It was wonderful and the picture is in the cake thread I will bump it again.
