Anyone gone to WDW with a diabetic child?

I'm not sure where I should post this....We just founf out last week that our 4 year old has Type 1 diabetes. In the shock and horror of this last week, we haven't had time to think of much. We had a trip planned to WDW for Dec which we cancelled, per the doctor. He believes by next summer, we'll have more control over her blodd sugar and can do a trip. If you've gone with a diabetic child, I'd LOVE your thoughts! If you wouldn't mind PM'ing me, I'd also love a friend who's dealt with this disease. Thanks!

Check out badshoe.com The family (who also post on the Dis) have 2 children with Type 1, one of whom was diagnosed on a WDW trip. They have advice about dealing with the disease at disney and who to contact to find out about food ingredients, sugar levels, etc.

Just read the post above mine, and we're talking about the same people. Great info and heartwarming stories.

Yep, been there, done that, many times. Our now almost 11 year old was diagnosed just after his 7th birthday. We travel a lot, the thing is is that YOU have to be prepared and preplan. Our son did shots for his first year and then went on the pump. My biggest suprise is that there were no sharps containers for his syringes anywhere. We ended up keeping them in a diet coke bottle Anyway, it can be done and you will have a great time just by being prepared. You can pm me if you'd like...
Just an aside, type 1 in kids is a rollercoaster, don't be afraid of it, roll with it!
