Hi everyone,
This is my 1st time posting on the disABILITIES! board. We live in Arizona and are planning a trip to DL next May. I know that this board is mostly for WDW folks, but I'm hoping that y'all can point me in the right direction. We have good friends who live about an hour's drive from Disneyland. The 1 friend has celiac disease and I know how to handle food allergies, so that part I'm not concerned about. The other friend (they're husband & wife, so this is the husband I'm talking about now) is legally blind...as in, he can't see a thing. In addition, years ago, he was in a bad car accident and can walk just fine...even long distances, he can walk without any problems. But it's the standing for any more than 5 minutes or so that is really painful for him.
Should he get a DAS card or a wheelchair or an ECV? He said that he feels like he doesn't really need a wheelchair or an ECV because he can walk just fine. It's the standing for long periods of time that he can't handle.
Also, has anyone travelled to Disney parks with a member of their travel group who is blind? If so, what suggestions would you have for other members of the blind community who are going to a Disney park?
Our friends might be joining us for 1 of the 3 days that we'll be at Disneyland and I'd like them to have an enjoyable time. Thanks in advance for all of your help!
