anyone going to wdw dec 7-14,2008?

i just tried to upgrade our hotel from pop century to port orleans but was told all the disney resorts are booked for that week so we are staying with pop century dose any one know if there is a sporting event going on this week? or something else i was told this is somewhat of a slow time to go? thanks for any info..

We are going to be there 12/6-12/13. There is the pop warner going on that week.

We are staying at Pop 12/7/08-12/14/08.

Like Disneydonnam said, that is Pop Warner week. I was really worried but many DISers have assured me that Pop Warner has no effect on the parks. I believe they stay at the All Stars Resorts mostly and I've heard some stay at Port Orleans and Carribean Beach Resort.

This will be our fourth yr. going the first week of Dec. There has always been something going on that week popwarner, cheerleading etc. We have never found the parks overcrowded with the kids. We did go one yr 12/12-12/19 and I do think that was less crowded then the first wk of Dec. The day we were leaving it was CRAZY we ended up just doing downtown Disney. There were people everywhere. The only bad part about going that time was it was hard to come home that close to Christmas and finish up everything that I forgot.

Pop Warner is that week, along with Mousefest. Also, Orlando is hosting two huge conventions that week. One of the conventions is for a large auto parts company and I can't remember what the other convention is. The parks will be pretty busy. Not summer, 4th of July or Christmas busy, but I don't think they will be as slow as early December of the past. Just get to the parks early and use Fastpasee - ya'll will have a great time.

Regarding the Pop Warner -- They basically stayed at the All Star Resorts. I worked Guest Services/Front Desk at All Star Music in the late 1990s and I felt sorry for other non-Pop Warner resort guests staying at the same time.

A huge amount of the Pop Warner kids now also stay at POR.

We will be there Dec 7 through the 13th. We are staying at the Beach Club Villas. We made our room reservations in Feb. and got the last two rooms. I wanted a two bedroom, but they did not have one. So we have a studio (for the inlaws) and a one bedroom for our family. I have been calling occassionally to see if a two bedroom would open up, but no luck thus far. I too hope it is not too crazy.

We are staying at Shades of Green on the 6th, then the Poly for the 7th to the 14th. And also from PA! Driving!!

Like the poster said, get there early and use Fastpass, especially for Soarin'. Have a great time.

Me, DH and my daughter her husband, 2 grandsons will be there Dec.7th-14th. We were there back in 2006. Hopefully we will be in the "50". We are flying down on JetBlue if they can get their act together. The others are driving. We had a great time before and this will be my DH first time at WDW and I don't think he will wear the button. He doesn't like crowds he is going for me and for the kids.
