Anyone going to the movies today?

We decided last year to make it a tradition! Our kids are older (18 and 14), so it was good timing for us and something DH and I can continue when the kids have other plans. My son will be with his GF this year.

Our family has never done big gatherings, unfortunately and with my mother gone there seems to be nothing left. Going to a movie is a perfect thing to do for us!

Our theater is closed today, so we won't be going. The kids have seen them all already, but we'll probably have a movie fest later on today. We got, The Hangover, Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek (I did see this and LOVE it), Wolverine (X-men - not really my thing), and for some unknown reason, my daughter wanted Pathology for Christmas (I've also seen this and think it's okay but not really worth buying). So we'll probably start watching them after the kids make the rounds to their friend's houses.

My son wanted the new Transformers more than anything else and it was in the #1 spot on his Christmas list. His GF bought it for him and I knew this, so after he was done opening his gifts he was quite upset that I hadn't gotten him the gift that he wanted more than anything else. I just shrugged because there really wasn't much I could say. The text came in about 1/2 hour ago that he got his movie. :)

I wanted to go see Sherlock Holmes but we have family visiting and they don't want to go. :(

I want to see Sherlock Holmes, The Young Victoria, and An Education.

I'm also looking forward to The Lovely Bones, the new movie with Amy Adams, Dear John, and Letters to Juliet!!

Did you read The Lovely Bones and Dear John. I just finished The Lovely Bones about a month ago (loved it) and Dear John was the first Nicholas Sparks book I read and I just cried and cried. Not as much as The Notebook though. ;)

We would do a repeat of New Moon, but DH is going and vetoed that one!!

Where I live, yesterday (12/24) was the last day to see New Moon in a regular movie theater. Today it starts in one of the money saver movie theaters, which has lousy seats and never turns the lights all the way off. The movie-going experience there is not great.

I want to see Sherlock Holmes today, but I must nap first. Santa is tired!;)

I didn't read either!!

I plan on reading the Lovely Bones before it comes out on January 15th and will probably read Dear John too, even though Nicholas Sparks makes me cry and cry and cry. I cried the whole way through the Notebook. :rotfl:

I read a review for the movie The Lovely Bones and it said that, while it's a decent movie, those that loved the book will be disappointed in the direction the movie takes. You might be better off seeing the movie first!

We always go to the movies on Christmas morning. We just got back from seseing Avatar. My husband and I loved it; at about halfway through our adult son said it was boring and fell asleep.

We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeekuel. Very cute.

Other movies I would like to see--but aside from Princess and the Frog, the others I can't take my kiddos to see.

We'll probably see Princess and the Frog later this week.

For the first time in a while, I wanted to see most of the movies that are at our theater:

Sherlock Holmes
It's Complicated
Up and Away (George Clooney movie that I probably got the title wrong)
The Blind Side
Princess and the Frog
and the Chipmunks.

The other movie was Avatar and I am on the fence about that one.

Saw some cute previews in the Chipmunks as well, so more family movies that we'll see in the future. Kids in particular wanted to see one coming out with Brendan Frasier and Brooke Shields about some vengeful forest animals trying to prevent Brendan from grazing the forest and developing the land.

People keep praising Avatar so I'm thinking this one later in the week. We couldn't go today unfortunately.

We just got back from Avatar. Loved it!

We were going but live on a side street that hasn't been plowed yet due to the snowstorm last night. So we are hoping it will be plowed tomorrow so we can go.

We just got back from the 10 p.m. showing of Sherlock Holmes- couldn't believe how packed it was! Anyway, like PPs have said, it was awesome- really fun! I highly recommend it!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
