Anyone going to the downtown Chicago Doorway to Dreams event????

Thanks for the pics and update. Looks like it would have been fun, but those incentives don't wow me. Were they they same for AKV or SSR?

The only incentives that they mentioned on stage (and on screen) were for BLT. They did say that SSR was $95/point but I don't own there so I dunno if that's a deal or not.

Oh....one thing that they did mention too was that they still had inventory for Grand California Villas. I know there was that story over the summer that GCV was almost sold out, so it's still not sold out yet.

Thank you chisoxkeith for posting all that great information! Hope you enjoyed the event. I love going to these but it is a bit more difficult driving into Chicago!

ChiSoxKeith - Thanks for the information and one quick question.

Looking at your last picture of the dance party it looks like the kids are involved - is this in fact the case? We are scheduled to be there on Sunday and I had assumed that was the case (we will be taking out 5 and 3 year old) but wanted to make sure so I don't tell them about it and then have them not get to do it.

Thanks

Thanks

There was a nice kids room (not all parents took advantage of it). But at the end of the presntation the DJ played dance tunes for the kids and parents to dance to. The four characters posed with everyone for pictures and danced with all the kiddies. It wasn't the electric slide but all the DVC cast members, characters, kids, and parents were doing a group line dance type thing at one point. They all played simon says.

The presentation was just over an hour and the dance filled in the rest of the time.

Thanks for the great update! That deal doesn't wow us, looks like we will wait to add-on! ;)

Well, I decided to go despite my cold, but what a mistake to have signed up for Friday night. I just fought traffic for an hour and a half - didn't even make it halfway and decided to turn around and head back home. According to the traffic reports, it was still at least another hour to get downtown and McCormick Place is beyond downtown. We only had a half hour left before the event started. My kids are pretty ticked at me. I tried consoling them by reminding them that we are going to WDW itself in less than a month. I'm sure they'll get over it. It's not like I was planning on adding on and I can buy some luggage tags with the $19 I saved on parking.

DVC, please have your next Chicago event back in the suburbs!!!!!

Just got back from the early Saturday one. This was our first event and it was great. The Wishmeister added some comedy to it and the singers. They were nice about the giveaways.

I thought tha tthe promotion/incentives were for any of the resorts but maybe I caught that wrong.

The characters definately danced with the kids, etc. Ours is only 1 but there were plenty kids that were dancing along and hanging with the characters. The characters were great at hanging out with the kids and being with them. They all spent ample time with our 1 year old.

There were probably about 100 people there or so. They did a drawing for a $250 Disney giftcard as well as you got a 20% coupon for the new interactive Disney store downtown which opens on the 28th.

Ugh, went to the Saturday afternoon event and didn't get the 20% coupon. We were one of the very last to leave and no one was handing them out and I had forgotten by then. darn
