anyone going to July 3 - Independence Day Dessert Party at CR?

Nope. I just can't see the point. I guess if you're local, or if you don't want to use a ticket to get into the parks that day, maybe it's worth it. We'll either be in the park or at the TOTWL that night.

Last time we went over the July 4th holiday we swore we would never, ever go at this time again. I do not think they could have packed anymore people in...smjj

It says a limit of 16 guests - I wasn't considering it really until I saw that. My plan that night was to have dinner and watch fireworks from our room at the POLY, so this is a viable alternative.

16?! So most likely three - four families tops. I can't envision this event.

I feel relatively certain it's a limit of booking 16 people per group, not a limit of 16 people at the party.

quinnc19 - 100% I advise to stay at the Poly. It's a much better location for viewing the fireworks vs the porte cochere at the CR convention center.

I was thinking the same thing about going to TOTWL but then I was thinking "how many others will think the same" and I wonder how early you would need to go so I think we decided to skip that idea. MK too crowded. One year we had dinner and watched the fireworks from Narcooses and was thing maybe repeating that. This might actually be less expensive and enjoyable as a different experience.

I am guessing they mean that each individual DVC member is only allowed to have 16 guests. The event is under the CR Porte-cochere. I googled pics of the port-cochere and it appears that they can fit quite a few tables there.

The price seems reasonable, as far as Disney dessert parties go. I think I would like the elbow room, compared to inside the park, but our main purpose for going this time of year was to be inside the park for the 4th (well, 3rd) fireworks. So, I think we will pass.

Since TOTWL is limited to BLT guests on the 3rd and 4th I wouldn't expect it to be overly crowded vs if it weren't. But if you're not staying there it isn't an option.

I'm trying to find my few pictures of a fireworks party from the porte cochere location but don't think I ever uploaded them.

We will be staying at BLT on July 3rd, does that mean we will be able to go to TOTWL without a problem? We would like to watch the fireworks from the observation area up there.

I'm not really opposed to doing the dessert party, but there would be 4 people and that would be $140, not sure if the party is worth it. It sounds like it would be fun. Just not sure.

We are staying at the BLT 7/2-7/4 which I just booked today! So TOTWL is convenient but I still think it will be crowded and may even get to a point where it is "full" but I also agree that in terms of dessert parties, the event sounds reasonably priced. Just showed my DH and he said almost the same thing that I did. I think I all see if it is still available tomorrow.

I have never read of it ever being closed due to capacity. I'd head up there earlier than I normally would which is usually about 15 minutes ahead of the fireworks unless we're already up there having some drinks. Perhaps someone who was there in the past couple of years will chime in with a good time recommendation.

I talked it over with my friend and we're probably going to do the party for our group of 4, $35/pp is reasonable compared to a lot of the other prices they charge. Hopefully I can make a reservation tomorrow without any problems.

Last year I thought they had TOTWL closed to host a private 4th of July event?

Didn't remember hearing that so did a quick search and found a couple posts from people who watched from there. I know Disney can do pretty much what they want, but since it's blacked out to people staying at BLT on points I'm not certain they would do that.

I think I'm just really confused. I remember last year there was definitely some extra cost event at TOTWL. Maybe I'm thinking of New Year's Eve? And then maybe I assumed it would apply to July 3rd and 4th because those dates were typically listed as "block out" dates...? So, maybe that's what I was thinking. But I don't really know what they mean by "block out", maybe they mean guests who aren't staying at BLT?

I don't really want to spend extra money for the dessert party (trying to spend less in general), but it overall it sounds fun/festive, and it would be a guaranteed spot to see the fireworks. I do really love the view from TOTWL. Oh, well, either way I'm sure it would be good. Maybe do the party this year, and next year try to do TOTWL, maybe I can ask around at the front desk or TOTWL check-in desk and see what they say.
