We will be at HHI for the first time April 20-24. Anyone else going that week? I was just curious if you are going to be there what are you packing?(shorts or capris?) Basically do you expect to swim? Should we bring beach toys/chairs for the kids? What do you plan to do during the week? I am trying to get ideas on things to do with my kids who will be 10 and 5 at the time of our trip. Anything I have to pre plan like a dolphin cruise?

We're going April 28 - May 2, but it's our first time there, so we don't really know how to pack. We always pack very light. We have no kids so we plan on laying by the pool/ocean, eating, reading, biking and overall relaxing. Maybe visiting Savannah for a day. :-)

We will be there for one night on our way back from WDW and on our way to Charleston Place in Charleston. We were there last April, beginning of the month with my parents and 3 teenagers. We were in short sleeves and shorts/capri's for the whole week, but we always bring sweats and sweatshirts for "cooler" days. We spent one full day hanging at the pool in bathing suits and laying on the beach and it was probably the most perfect beach day of my entire year. We did alot of touring of the island, and DF, and DS played golf twice, so we actually could have spent more time at the beach, if we weren't busy with the other things. HH is really great! The resort is beautiful, offers alot for families, beach house in itself is a nice place to hang out and only steps down to the beach. I could spend a whole day dolphin/pelican watching at the beach. Harbourtown is a great place to spend a day shopping, dining and walking around the marina. Went to the top of the lighthouse for a beautiful view!

I think the end of April it will be warm enough to swim and wear spring/summer clothing. However, I am an overpacker so there's always a pair of slacks, a long sleeve blouse, a sweater with me, and sweats with me... just in case.

Have a great time!

We will be there the 10th-13th. It will be our second trip to HHI since we will be there for the weekend a couple of weeks earlier. I grew up in the Myrtle Beach area, so I know a lot about the SC coast. The water will still be pretty cold, but the temperatures should be pleasant. You should be able to do the beach activities, but wouldn't count on the ocean. We plan to just relax and take it easy, but we will probably do bike rides and possibly some of the nature walks/tours. Will know more after the first trip. Plan to use that to see what we will want to do when we go back.

You will be catching the last day of the Verizon Heritage Classic golf tournament so you can expect a crowded island that first day. The tournament ends on the 20th.

We have gone at this every year for the last 7 years. We are always in shorts all day except early mornings on the deck you may need a sweatshirt and/or long pants. It warms up by 9am. We never swim in the ocean but enjoy walking the beach every day. We spend many hours by the pools and I always end up with a sunburn even with sunscreen. You may need a sweatshirt or light jacket at night. We are trying a new experience this year and going to WDW instead but you will have a great time.
