Anyone going to Disneyland last week of April?

Tue- DL, Early Entry, lunch at the Golden Horseshoe, dinner at the French Market (RideMax day)

Wed- Character breakfast for DS 9th birthday at PCH Grill, then DCA till closing, Mimi's for dinner (RideMax day)

Thur- Both DLR parks, revisiting our favorites or catching anything we missed. Everything will be spontaneous, mostly up to the kids, so I have a little pocket list of the good restraurants...when we are hungry whatever is closest is where we will go.

We will be in DL Tue (maybe 9-10 am), Wed, Thur (until 6 pm) and we are trying to determine which days to do DL versus which day to do DCA. We don't want to do alot of walking between parks if we don't have to. Unfortunately RideMax (which we will be using) doesn't help decide between parks.

Why did you pick DCA for Wed? I was thinking maybe DL tues, wed and then DCA on thur since it might be more crowded. Any thoughts?

We chose Wednesday for our DCA day because we want our last day (Thursday) to be without plan, just go between the two parks whenever we want to doing whatever we want. We are going to USH on MON, and between TUE and WED, TUE was our choice to do EE.

I haven't been inside the Golden Horseshoe since I was a tike. Do you need a ps for this? Or do you just walk on in?

No PS's are taken, you just walk right in. At first it seems like any other counter service place (order your food, pay, wait for it to come up, find a seat), but there is a stage at the back where they have the show. The show times are set, check Disneyland's calendar on their website to find out show times for your dates (they'll also be available at the park when you get there).

If you've ever seen Hoop De Doo Review at WDW, it's the same corn-ball type of humor (not the same show, of course, but it runs along those lines).

What is USH?

We would prefer to do EE on tues also, but since our flight doesn't get into Long Beach until just after 8 am it won't work. Also we will miss the fireworks on thur to catch our flight back. But it will still be wonderful, after all it's Disneyland!

Now if I can just not tell my 6 year old DD for three more weeks. . .

USH=Universal Studios Hollywood.

You are going to have sooo much fun...Disney magic is Disney magic, whether you get to see everything or not!

Best wishes on keeping your surprise a secret! :thumbsup2

We'll be there last week in April! :cool1:
There's a Heritage USA Music Festival on that Friday. I'll be there with about 100 kids from DS's school, plus who knows how many other orchestras from all around the country. So look out for all the music kids that weekend! :crowded:

I've been to WDW over 25 times, but never DL. We can't wait! :yay:
:charac2: :rockband:

We'll be driving down from Salt Lake City. We stay at the DL Hotel April 22 through 26. This is our third trip ever and our first time staying on site. My first ever trip to Disneyland didn't happen until I was 30 years old. Now I can't get enough of it!

Thanks Chicago526 for that info :) We'll be sure to check out the Golden Horseshoe.
Mousemom: are you saying the Heritage Music Festival is the last weekend of April at Disneyland or Disneyworld?

I'm curious about this as well...and if it is DLR, is the group arriving Friday or earlier in the week?

The Heritage Music Festival is at DL. I think the festival itself is on Friday, but I haven't gotten the itinerary yet. We are arriving Wednesday afternoon, and I think we will be at DL on Thursday.

Maybe we should change the name of this thread to "Anyone NOT going to Disneyland last week of April?" :rotfl2:

I'm holding out hope that we're all smart planning types and we all (on this board) just chose wisely to go when the park won't be crowded.

Unrealistic, yes, but that's my hope and I'm stickin' to it!

That would be nice, laura&fam, but I think we need to steel ourselves for big crowds. The overpriced, heavily booked hotels are what I'm basing that on.

It'll be fun tho, even if it is crowded. My only worry is that it will be very crowded and very rainy....that would kind of be a pain. I hope that if it does rain a lot of the crowd is persuaded to stay home or at the hotel....

My understanding (as a Disney newbie, of course) is that attendance by locals makes a major impact on the park numbers for a day, and that when it rains, locals do not go to Disneyland.

So while I'm still holding out hope for sun, if it does rain, it shouldn't be crowded. Shouldn't be... :rolleyes1

We are also going to be there from 4-21 to 4-25. My DD and 56 dancers from her group, along with other dance groups in the country are descending on DL that weekend for the dance extravaganza weekend. She will be performing in one of the parades and on stage that weekend. So I defintely anticipate that it will be a very busy weekend. I think our group alone, dancer and guests, are around 500 people...

I am sure there will be a lot of Disney magic though!

This Heritage Music Festival. If it is indeed on Friday, does that mean there will be lot's of music kids in the park or will they be elsewhere doing their music thing? Because I only have time for one day at Disneyland while I am out in L.A. that weekend and Friday is the day. (Provided that Delta is still flying of course.)

If it's going to be very crowded why aren't they having the Electrical Parade?

It was on the Disneyland calander briefly (has anyone else noticed it changes frequently?) but it's been off for over a month.

I haven't seen this in years and my DD has never seen it. Oh well, can't have it all. I'll just be happy if they don't cancel the fireworks every single night we're there like they did last time. :goodvibes

The Heritage Music Festival is on Friday for our group. ALL the kids :crowded: will be in Frontierland on Saturday night and at 9:20 will be attending an awards ceremony/celebration/dance.
Between the dancers, the singers and the musicians... look out...
