Anyone get referral bonus on SSR sale?

I'm curious to hear if anyone has been contacted by DVC regarding a referral bonus for someone that purchased points at SSR. We've discussed DVC with friends and acquintances a few times when the topic of WDW came up in conversation.

Ultimately, we ended up getting a couple of mailers from our Guide thanking us for putting people in contact with him. Sounds like they must have mentioned our names when they called.

Anyway, we really aren't even certain if these people ended up buying into DVC. I seem to recall that it can take 2-3 months after closing to be notified of the referral incentives. Given the fairly recent SSR closing schedule, I'm wondering if any other folks with successful referrals to SSR have heard anything from DVC.

Hi,
I referred a co-worker last year- she eventually bought at SSR and I was sent (months later) a letter asking me to choose from a number of gifts. If I remember correctly there were Disney dollars, credit toward dues?, a framed gift, and...(can't remember). We chose the gift- for the kids- a framed picture w/ pins and our name etc... kids love it,

My friends purchased while down on a trip (using my points) in February. I got a letter shortly afterward telling me they had expressed interest. Around the time they closed on their contract (July?) I got another letter thanking me for the referral and letting me know they had joined the "neighborhood". CT protects her citizens from the evil timeshare people so I cannot receive any "gift" from Disney -- just their heartfelt thanks.

My DSIL took a tour in May and gave our name. She desided to buy and put a deposit down in June, and we go our letter asking to choose a gift late July/early Aug.

We referred a friend who put down a deposit in July. We received the letter thanking us for the referral but nothing else yet about an incentive.

We just bought in last week. I did give the name of our friends who already own at OKW and after our sale, I asked if they would receive anything for the "referral". The sales rep told me it was by the state the referral party lives in whether or not they would receive anything and after checking the charts, nothing given to referrees who live in CT. I tried but no nice bonus for them.

CA residents get's Disney $ (or "reduction" in dues) for referral. Got one last year.

Yes, I referred a friend who bought at SSR. We received a letter thanking us after their first contact with the Vacation Guide and then after they bought we received the letter asking us to choose from a number of gifts. We received 200 Disney Dollars after they closed. It took a few months from their first contact with the Vacation Guide. It took longer than we expected.

No. For some reason they can't because of where we live. I think its pretty crummy that Disney pays cash to soem folks and hasn't come up with some kind of thank you gift for the rest of us.

It's not up to Disney. State laws in your state prohibit them from offering you ANY sort of referral incentive.

I'm sure they would be happy to include your home state in the list if possible. Clearly they have no good reason for willingly excluding specific states.

We have reffered several friends to join DVC. All we have gotten in the mail was a kind letter thanking us for referring someone to join.

Apparently the state of Indiana and several other states have a law that dis-allows DVC or any other company from giving members kick backs as rewards for referring them business. I have yet to find this law in any Indiana statute but I am still looking for it so I can write my state rep.
