Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

My DD and DS know about the 14 hour flight. I was a nervous wreck until they were on solid ground. They both went to Australia when they were 15.

I started looking into this whole "trip to Australia" thing in my spare time last week. It's all fine and dandy going there, we can get Business class on miles, bit coming home only Economy on miles. Since neither of us have any excuse for our hips (no child bearing) , we just need to get on a serious exercise program and diet before we can make it over (or more importantly make it back!)

Looking ng forward to hearing you tell the story of DS and his attempts to stay awake! :rotfl2:

So i never been on a 14 hour straight flight before but when i went to cyprus it was a total of 13 hours of flight time, so I can imagine. The 9 hour flight over the ocean was so not comfy for me. It was first flight and I even enjoyed the food!;) I know I am wired but it is all good!

Love all your 'told you so' stories :rotfl: And especially the karma of the security line pusher-inner-er :thumbsup2 Unfortunately for me, I am usually the ones pulled up for an explosives test - I must look suspicious :cool2:

Unfortunately us Aussies must become accustomed to 14 hour flights (often preceded/followed by extra flying) if we wish to go anywhere except for south east Asia or the south Pacific  And for those lucky enough to live in Perth (on the west coast), it's at least a 3 hour flight to get ANYWHERE lol!

From the photo of the plane, I'm guessing you flew Qantas. Glad to hear that it wasn't too bad a flight, as that's who we'll be flying with next year. We've only flown to the US with Virgin before.

Ugh! I can barely tolerate the 6-7 hour flight to LA to get to Disneyland. I can't imagine 14 hours on a plane. You Aussies are a strong & tough breed! :goodvibes (And just like my Twin, I can't sleep on a plane either).

I love that feeling of boarding the plane in Melbourne and knowing that the next soil your feet will touch will be US ground :goodvibes

No one paints a picture in the witty, sarcastic way you do it. Yes, it is karma that the lady in front of you had a random drug search. Sorry you missed out on great coffee, but I cannot relate as I hate coffee. Like your DH, I always wait until the last minute and over pack. Crap packs lightly and in advance. Your picture over Hawaii is lovely.

Welcome back! Glad you made it home safely! I can't wait to read all about your adventure!!!

Your departure sounds like it was nice and smooth...rude line cutting ladies notwithstanding!

I thoroughly enjoyed your updates so far and looking forward to more! :-)

Glad I didnt have to wait long for the food porn:thumbsup2
We were really excited about the explosive and drug testing that we got picked for, it broke up the waiting as we still had lots of waiting time for connecting flights.

Looking forward to more........

For me, I like to pack light so I can bring back souvenirs in the luggage. That is a long travel being on board for 14 hours in the air. I don't think I can last that long in the air. That is neat that you were able to fly in the Airbus A380.

Can't wait to read your next update.

I am here, oh that phone is dead....:rotfl2:

YAY! You're here....with a dead phone. :rotfl:

I would love, love, love to visit your country one day. But, dude......14 hours in a plane. :faint: I would have to have some serious drugs and be knocked out cold. The little 3-hr. jaunt that it currently takes me to get to FL is just about as much time as I care to spend in a plane at one time, thank you very much. Oy.

LOVE the food porn!!! I'd like to lift that cookie right out of my monitor and enjoy it with a nice glass of cold milk. Or ale. :rotfl:
.

You'll just need to lace that cookie with some serious drugs and then get on a plane to Oz. ;)

I see you have your priorities straight, M&M cookie before breakfast.:rotfl2:

I don't how we got so lucky on my one trip across the pond to have the first row of the coach section. It was SO nice to have space to stand up and stretch out. Sadly we weren't as lucky on the way home.

Doesn't everyone have an M&M cookie before breakfast????

That was very lucky to have the extra leg space. I tend to just walk in circles on the plane so that I can stand up and stretch out.

That is one heck of a travel day(s). I flew to (and eventually from) Australia many years ago - I remember it basically taking forever. :headache:

::yes:: The travel day isn't quite over...yet.

You'll need to return the favour. It's about time that your DD and DS experienced that feeling when YOU are flying in the air to Australia. :thumbsup2

That was a good example of karma! :goodvibes

Wasn't it just? I was smiling like anything when the security guy pulled her out of line. I like to think that perhaps he saw what happened and was in a position to do something about it.

You. might. need. to. convince. Fran......to spend more.....so that you accumulate more fly miles. :duck:

Once you get over 11 hours, it really doesn't make any difference. It's all interminable anyway.
Hope you enjoyed Cyprus.

Yes, I was flying with the Flying Kangaroo. I decided to pay the extra for the direct flight.
And the food wasn't too bad either. It was certainly better than United.

We should try and coordinate a flight together and play TAG.

Thanks. I really missed my coffee on this trip. It was the first thing I went out to buy when I got home.

Hey TM! Nice to see you here. As journeys go, the trip to the US was really uneventful.....which is exactly the way I like it.

Glad I didnt have to wait long for the food porn:thumbsup2

I *think* I shot almost every meal on this trip. Food porn is never really far away on my TRs.

That assumes that you've built in shopping time on your trips. Something I need to remember to do....NEXT time! :headache:

Good job - I only watched FOUR movies on our flight from Sydney to LA - but I did try to get a nap in!

Also, they have these things called e-readers now. Takes the book weight WAAAYYYY down. ;)

e-readers. Yes. :scratchin

Hmmm.....I think I should explain. The last trip I took with DH and DS.....we had 1 laptop, 2 nintendo game devices, 2 i-pods, 2 e-readers and 3 smart phones between us. Throw in the 2 cameras.......that was a lot of charging and extra baggage.
This trip, DH and I decided that we only needed the 3 smart phones (don't even ask why DH feels the need to have 2 smart phones) and the 2 cameras between us. Even DS was so jaded by the charging experience on the last trip that he didn't want to bring a single device with him on this trip. :lmao:

(Nice to see you here, Pete. I only realised yesterday that you've finished your TR. I will be catching up on it today.)

Hi!
I found you
.... Catching up

I am duly caught! Hope you're caught up. :thumbsup2

I missed this haiku the first time:

Promise of morning
Inky darkness light breaking
Sadly we see smog

Very clever :)

Did you notice they built an area by the new Rapunzel bathrooms with a lot of tree stumps that have plugs in them! :yay: I was there with a bunch of other people charging various devices.

I briefly saw the area but didn't pay attention to it. But can you imagine bringing that many devices into the park???? ((shudder))
