Oh no! Camera trouble???
Glad you got DS on HM, even if he didn't really 'get' it or like it, at least he's not scared of it now. He looked pretty happy on Splash, so looks like you made up for it there.
Unfortunately Pirates (and the Blue Lagoon restaurant) was down for maintenance when I was in Paris, so I can't shed any light on that for you. Some people claim that it is the best version though
30 minutes for Peter Pan WITH a human fastpassWow! What was the standby time?
Yes, Walt Disney Studios only takes half a day. They have three big attractions there: Rock'n'Rollercoaster, Crush's Coaster (think Primeval Whirl in the dark with a finding Nemo theme) and Tower of Terror. They do have some great shows (Cinemagique, Animagique and Lights, Motors, Actions). The have a Backlot Tour, but this is pretty missable as well as bunch of smaller rides that are aimed more at kids. One thing that I have always missed for one reason or another, but would really like to do is Stitch Life, which is a bit like Turtle Talk with Crush, but with Stitch.
What a shame that your son does not like Haunted Mansion. This is one of my favourite rides and I especially love Haunted Mansion Holiday. I agree that Pirates at Disneyland is the best version and I have done three of them. I have yet to get to try Peter Pan at Disneyland though.

Wow.....when you were starting to introduce the idea of a ride that your DS just didn't want to do, I was starting to imagine something princess-y. HM??!!.....I have three boys and they LOVE the HM!!! The holiday overlay is AWESOME!
Sorry about the lens issues but glad you got a turn on PP!
.
Haunted Mansion already creeps me out, there's no way I could handle it with the overlay too.that movie totally freaked me out! I'm glad DS didn't come out traumatized again.
DLs Pirates is definitely longer than WDWs, by 3-4 rooms.
Bummer about your cameraI hope the solution wasn't too pricey.
Even with Tim the wait at Peter Pan was 30 minutes, wow!
I'm sorry to hear about the lens. Your pictures of the HMH are very nice and good. These are the types of shots that I want to get when I go on the HMH in a couple of weeks.
PotC at DL will always be my favorite over the MK version. Eating at the BB while watching the boats go by is great as well.
It was no surprised that DS wanted to go on Splash Mountain and that was a very nice picture of the three of you on the ride. I thought that you would try to get some pictures during the ride.
Your DS is crazy! I love HM and can't wait to see the NBC overlay some of these days!

We LOVED the Haunted Mansion Holiday! When we went on, several of the doors on the gingerbread house were open! (I see yours had them all shut). Thought you might like to see the pic my friend took:

Great update!![]()
I loved Haunted Mansion Holiday, so I am glad you talked DS info riding. The regular ride is okay, but the Holiday one is amazing. It will take a while before I get back to Splash though. Peter Pan always has a long wait, so we only ride it when we make it over there first thing in the morning. I just do not get the wait. Too bad the human fastpass could not help more with the wait.
I could totally relate to your DS with HM...in the past it was always a ho hum for me too EXCEPT for one part that I could easily get an anxiety attack or have a sudden heart attack about Never having been to DLR I wonder if its the same as WDW ? There is one section where your doom buggy turns around and then for probably a second ( more like an hour to me ! ) you are lying back Feeds into my " buried alive " fears
I also struggled through NBC movie dozens of times over the years forced myself to watch it prior to MNSSHP this year because I knew Jack & Sally would be new meet/greet and wanted to give it one more chance ....LOVED it and the meet/greet now I have DLR HM NBC envy really wish they would do that at WDW
I doubt DS will need therapyOh sorry about your lens !
Went to Festival of the Masters today, have to say I could absolutely see you having photograph entries there You're just as talented as many I saw there
Thank you for posting pics especially of Haunted Mansion Holiday. My family loves the HM but the overlay makes us giddy and my kids prefer the overlay. DH and I saw the movie without kids and thought it was brilliant. Making it part of the HM? Even more brilliant. Hoping we get to see it this year.
I didn't realize that your DS was ho hum about the HM ride! I guess he won't be visiting our HM room!
That makes sense why going on Splash was so important. I'm not sure why he skipped the next two rides, but understanding teen age boys is probably as easy and understanding cats.
The reason Peter Pan took so long is that only way we could use the human FP was really to pull the "crip" (word Fran uses to describe herself, short for cripple, no relation to the gang) card. We couldn't have gone on that ride, if Fran didn't go with us. She tried to abstain, and Tim explained that by having her on the ride, we could use the handicapped entrance.
It took so long because they can only allow a certain number of Disabled guests on the ride at a time. There were a lot of people in front of us, so we just had to wait like everyone else.
We still have quite a few more rides left!Again, I can't believe how much we did in one day! If we stayed out there for two days, Fran and I would never get on this many rides, I think she went through shopping withdrawl over these two days!
Poor DS! As I remember, he did not ride the Haunted Mansion at Disney World![]()
Omgosh thank you for addressing the TP issue! I thought I was the only one that wants to carry TP in my bag into the restrooms at DL/WDW.
My all time favorite attraction is the Haunted Mansion Holiday! I can't get enough of it. Makes me sad that I may not be able to see it this year.
I may be the only person in the world that prefers WDW's PoTC to DLR. I do like the coolness of floating by the BB though![]()
Whew, I'm finally caught up again. Great updates while I was away. Now it's off to bed so I can get up for *&^% in the morning.
I think standby was around 50 - 70 minutes.
Yes, it was lens trouble. I just got the lens fixed back home.![]()
I didn't try to get pictures on the ride. Didn't have the plastic sleeve with me and I didn't want to get the camera wet. In fact, I'm thinking of getting a point and shoot for these sorts of wet situations.
How annoying
I highly recommend it! Also for other situations where you have any concern about your camera (ie pouring with rain, likely to drop it etc).
Out of a group of about a dozen people, there was one spot at Victoria Falls where I was the only one who was able to take photos, because I had my little waterproof point and shoot. Priceless.
(That big bulge under my raincoat is my other camera lol!)
Nice picture of you and your DH.
Yeah.....problem is that I'll probably want a P&S with all the bells and whi$tle$.![]()
DS really likes getting wet; so we tend to get on the wet rides for him. Maybe your DS' will love it too.![]()
I hope you get better pics than these, Bret.
I didn't try to get pictures on the ride. Didn't have the plastic sleeve with me and I didn't want to get the camera wet. In fact, I'm thinking of getting a point and shoot for these sorts of wet situations.
You might be surprised at how cheap good point and shoots are now. I need to replace my good camera and the modern equivalent has better everything, heaps of added features that I would never even think of, and is about half the priceThey have to compete with phone cameras now.
Ohhh ohh HM is one of my fav rides and I was in the dark ( excuse the pun ) that there was a holiday version! How supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. One must add this to ones bucket list! ( before I am the 1000 guest )
Lol re your DS not liking it. I see your parental 'neglect' and I raise you... my parents left me in a holiday club in a hotel on vacation one year. I was young and the teenagers that were suppose to supervise us put on the movie Jaws! After that I refused to get in the bath, the sea, even a swimming pool! Even now I don't swim lol. I nearly passed out on the Jaws ride at Universal lol. Jo claimed it would cure me. I did say I was going to file for divorce but was talked out of it with a soft toy from World of Disney...still got that Pluto lol..
Pirates oh yes how we love those pirates. I have considered in a fantasy where we won the lottery of a 'Pirates tour' grand vacation where we hit every Disney Park around the world getting a pin from each Pirate ride. The DisneyLand Paris is my fav so far. But I minus points for it being in France lol.
Peter Pan! Sorry but DW and I renamed this 'Peter Pants' lol...
Great post! Oh Disney is so much fun. Wish we were all there now!
Xander loves getting wet. As soon as he discovers the wet rides, we are in for it. I thought we were busted at MNSSHP. Our parade spot happened to be in front if Splash. Connor was watching the boats go by, and I was hoping Xander would not notice. Ironically, Connor and I got really wet that night anyway. We rode PotC (our only ride of the evening). On both drops, the lest side of the boat got drenched. I NEVER get wet on that ride, so it was odd.
I am hoping that my pictures will turn out really well on the dark rides when I leave next week to my DL trip with my DA. I am really looking forward to using the new lens. After everything has been going on, I am now considering renting a body for the upcoming trip to improve the picture taking.
Make sense to get a P&S where you don't want to take your DSLR on wet rides. I have taken my video camera on Splash before and I did get it wet a few times but I had no problems with it after it got a little wet. I might not use my DSLR unless I have the rain cover on it so it won't get wet.
