Great update PIO! I can't hear raptor birds without thinking about Jurassic Park...

wonderful pictures of our flying friends thank you. It's such an amazing thing to see the American Eagle!
I lost a good cap on the Kali rapids lol. Soaked my shorts and had to buy new ones to replace them

they are now my favourite shorts. Make me laugh every time.
Jurassic Park? Yes, I can see how raptors would make you think about that movie.
Pity about the cap. At least you traded it for favourite shorts! LOL.
Very nice pictures of the birds from Flights of Wonder. I have never been to that show since there is something similar to this show but without the exotic birds at AK.
I knew that you will be going on KRR that day since DS really loves wet rides. It was good that you had FP+ so you wouldn't have to be in that long standby queue.
Thanks Bret.
I claimed a FP- for the second ride on KRR. It was only the second time that I pulled a paper FP on this whole trip. Yes, we were glad to have the FP and not have to wait the 70 minutes.
What a beautiful and different bird that is, the one you weren't sure vulture or buzzard I have no idea either would be nice to know Ah, our eagle what a majestic bird that is and yes so glad no longer endangered Love the picture of the owl, looks young based solely on the feathers. The first owl. Did they say ?
Looking forward to the AK parade pictures; especially since it is now part of history. So sad.
I'm pretty glad to know that the bald headed eagle populations are at healthy'ish levels again. They really are majestic animals.
Yes, I'm in mourning about that AK parade.
I'm so bad, I can't remember if I have seen the bird show before in 2008 or not.

There are some gorgeous birds. The owls in particular are amazing!
It has been forever since we've done Kali. I think we got so drenched one time, we were done with that ride
Mmm, that mango slushie looks right up my alley!
The owls were amazing in that show.
I think you get a lot more wet on Kali cf Grizzly River Run. I don't think I've ever gotten off Kali without being wet; where as I've been lucky on GRR a couple of times and escaped with drops of water on me.
I am going to have to ask Graham when I see him again on Monday if he knows that this bird his. I am really surprised that we never made it to Flights of Wonder as we both love birds. I am with you on the raptors. One of the most amazing thing I had the opportunity to do was handling a Gyrfalcon in Dubai. You have inspired me to go and do that show the next time we are in Florida.
Corinna
Great! I'll look forward to seeing if Graham knows what the bird is. And I'll look forward to seeing your pictures of the birds in your next Florida TR.
That would have been fantastic to handle a Gyrfalcon.
I love that the show started off with Australian birds
You did a great job capturing the birds in flight. My photos of that sort of thing just end up being a blurry spec
KRR looks like fun. How does it compare to GRR at DCA?
Can't wait to see your parade photos!
You get a lot more wet on KRR than GRR. Both rides are way too short for me.
I'm jealous of the owls you got to see at the end of the show! They are beautiful.
Thanks for posting on this TR!
The owls were beautiful. I think they bring them out at the end for most shows; so maybe you'll get to see them up close next time you go to WDW.
Sorry the boys weren't feeling well during the AK day. The bird show pics were great.
Thanks Angela. The boys made it through the day. I did adjust my plans for the day and I avoided the rides except for Kali; but that was fine. There were so many things that were on my list to see for AK that we could nearly fill the day with 'sitting' attractions.
We did the bird show back with my parents in 2010 as they are totally into birding. We haven't had the opportunity since. I think Fran might look at birds as being entertainment for cats.
Kali RR is one of our least favorite rides, you get even more drenched than GRR and there is no GCH to go back to your room and change immediately. Looking forward to seeing if you got any better pictures later in the day as I got hardly any!
I hope you get to see the cat entertainment show sometime again. LOL!
I didn't get too many pictures later in the day. But I swiped DH's entire collection.
I agree that's the best daytime parade at WDW. Too bad it's no more.
Your pictures make me want to try the sit-down version of Yak & Yeti!
We also love Flights of Wonder, but have now seen it too many times thanks to DDs obsession with it!
I love seeing your pictures of Flights of Wonder in your TRs. I really enjoy eating at Y&Y. Hope you make it there.
We really enjoy the Flights of Wonder show. It's not a must do on every trip but we've seen it several times. Some of the birds are new from the last time.
What's this about the AK parade being history?
We have bird shows in one of the zoo's in Melbourne; so Flights of Wonder isn't necessarily a 'must do' either. But it is always an enjoyable show to watch.
(And I see Ruthie responded about the AK parade question.)
I think it was set to end in June Pam,but may have actually ended May 31

So out of 4 parks there is only the MK parades regularly scheduled I LOVED the parade at AK It will be missed, especially when it was the Christmas season
Ruthie
It ended in May.
I hope Disney decide to offer more parades at parks other than MK.
Whew ! Just got caught back up. Not only have I been doing a complete clean out of old stuff from the house but DH's work changed and he had to go back to working away from home again. I've been a little more busy then I used to be.

AK and Epcot are my 2 favorite parks and it is really a dead tie. I love science, culture and animals so it's hard to choose.
Thank you for the wonderful pictures of the bird show. Due to my weird fear of birds I will never ever ever see that show. I love looking at them but anything flying over my head would send me strait to the floor with my hands on my head like I was having a hand grenade thrown at me. As an FYI if you ever get into the Maryland area and happen to be around the Conowingo Dam , I have sited a few Bald Eagles flying over head as I drove across it. I remember doing a triple take because I didn't think they would be in the area. I did some research and asked a few people and it was confirmed . Pretty cool.
On another note. I will have to sub to your Sydney TR. DH (before I knew him) went there for the Olympics with 2 of his collage buddies. We have all the tickets from the events they saw, nicely framed and hanging on his man cave wall. Maybe someday I'll get to your part of the world but until then I'll just swoon over your pictures.
Welcome back! Sounds like you've been busy IRL. Hope you've gotten most things done now.
I'll take note of your tip about Bald Eagles in the Maryland area. Thanks.
Hope to see you at the Blue Mountains/Sydney TR. Shame that you didn't know DH in 2000. That was a fun time to be in Sydney.
