I'm going to a concert at the Tweeter Center on December 11 (Clay Aiken - woohoo!). Anyhow, I'm not familiar at all with the Camden area. We're planning on going to dinner prior to the concert, and I'm looking for reccomendations on places to eat prior to the show. I'm looking for something close to the Tweeter Center (so that I don't get lost between the restaurant and the concert). Any reccomendations?

I am familiar with the Camden area. I honestly wouldnt recommend eating in the city of Camden, but I can give you the name of some pretty nice restaurants that would be on the way and get you right back on 676 to Camden. What part of NJ are you coming from so I know what direction you will be coming.

You don't want to wander around Camden. The city has been classified as one of the nations most dangerous so I would find someplace else to eat. I took a grad course in Camden we had to have a police escort to and from class. You'll be fine at the Tweeter center but I wouldn't recommend driving around.

i wouldnt drive around there either...i have gone to concerts there...took the riverline in, went right to the concert, took the riverline out..
if youre going to eat, i would suggest eating before you enter the camden area

Echoing what everyone else has told you.

Eat before; get in, enjoy the show, get out.

also agreeing with everyone else, been to a dozen concerts there, yesh just go to concert and get out.

Get out and leave quickly. Right near the Tweeter is the nicer section but you shouldn't really be hanging around after the concert--espeically if you are not from the area.

Not far from Camden is Cherry Hill which has some decent eateries. Depending on the direction you are going you can find something in Philly, Cherry Hill, even Collingswood and such.

A friend of mine was in a bus traveling through Camden and it was shot at. It was a tour bus coming home from Atlantic City(?). Got lost, or took a shortcut. Driver was smart enough to keep going.

Personally, I think the city is an embarrassment to the United States. I think that if an American city is _that_ dangerous, we should deploy some of our troops to clean it up and out!

But, to answer your question, I agree with everyone else. In and out of that darned city!!!

I just want to reassure you that you'll be perfectly safe going to the concert at the Tweeter center. That area is not bad at all. I agree that you shouldn't take the grand tour of Camden, but that particular area is as safe as any other concert venue in any other city.

What kind of restaurant are you interested in? Casual, nice? What price range are you interested in?

What part of NJ are you coming from? I echo what others have said, eat first before getting into Camden, (Cherry Hill is not far away and has lots of great resaurants...give us an idea of cuisine you like.....) enjoy the show (the Tweeter Center is safe), than get out of Camden.

It really is sad...they have invested alot to try to make the waterfront a touristy area...from the Tweeter Center, SS New Jersey, the aquarium, etc....but Camden just has one of those reputations...and seems to keep getting worse.

Depending on where you are coming from you could go into philly, eat at the waterfront and take the ferry over the center.

I'm coming from the NJ shore (Ocean City area), so I'll be driving in on the AC Expressway. I'm thinking of stopping off at the Deptford Mall for dinner, but I'm unsure of how to get to the Tweeter Center from the Deptford Mall.

The Deptford Mall area has an Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Chili's, Applebee's, and Don Pablo's. There are also other restaurants that aren't chains. A good one is "Pasta Cheech" across from the mall. And there's a Ruby Tuesday's in the mall itself.

From the mall area, you hop onto Rte. 55 North and take it to 42 North. Then you get off on the Camden exit, #676. From 676, you get off on Exit 5A (it'll say "Camden Waterfront"). When you take that exit, you loop around and follow the "Camden Waterfront" signs (be careful because it's easy to mess up). You'll see Cooper Hospital and the Campbell Soup building. This should lead you to Martin Luther King Blvd. Follow MLK Blvd. until you get to the Tweeter Center parking.

Is the Pub still open? They had the most wonderful snapper soup I've ever tasted.

WilmaBud, I'm assuming that I'll pass Cooper Hospital and the Campbell's soup building? How far past these buildings is the Tweeter Center?
