We are a family of 5, kids ages 5, 7, 17. We would be coming from NJ and looking to take our time coming into Orlando. We would be leaving on Thursday Aug 20 and would arrive in Orlando on Saturday Aug 22 for our two night stay at Nick Hotel & then onto Contemporary for 4 nights. We are looking for a nice stopover for the way home. We are willing to go a bit out of our way (it doesnt have to particularly be on I-95 but we dont want to go any further then Orlando in Florida. Just as long as we are somewhere on the way to go home whether it is more west it doesnt matter.

You could stop at the New Jersey shore. We love Ocean City, NJ and it has a boardwalk that is great for kids. It has rides, etc for them to go on. Plus you can stop at the beach on the day. That would be a great ending to your trip to relax at the beach. But it could be pricey...

Williamsburg, VA is a nice area - lots of shops and restaurants and history. It's also the home of the Trellis Restaurant which is where the chocoholic's dream "Death by Chocolate" was first created and which they still serve. :thumbsup2

Washington, DC has a ton of fun museums, art galleries, monuments, etc.

Baltimore, MD has a great Inner Harbor area with a very nice aquarium.

I'm not sure how far you want to go, but we stop between lower south carolina and jacksonville, FL just depending on what time we get left when everyone gets off work. There's always plenty of hotels that are nice, and it's nice to get more driving done the first day. HTH

Savannah, Georgia is nice. And it's close to Disney's Hilton Head DVC Resort, so that's an option if your DVC members. My family will spend a few days there on the way home to prolong vacation a little bit. So hard to quit Disney cold turkey at the end of the trip!:confused3

Savannah or Charleston are nice stops---depending on where in NJ you are, it just took my parents 11 hrs to drive from South Jersey to Charleston. They also sometimes stop in Williamsburg--however, that will make your drive the next day a bit longer.

thank you everyone for the suggestions.
DJP0630, i am from NJ and had been to jersey Shore many many time. I am looking for places on the way to FL
