My Dh and I are going to take a long weekend away from our 5 kiddos (first time ever!!) in March this year to go skiing. I was looking at the lift ticket prices and am wondering if they are cheaper anywhere else--besides buying them online. We would have booked a package, but DH has so many airline, rental car and hotel points, that we should be able to fly, drive and sleep for next to nothing. Thanks for any information!! :flower:

Grocery stores (King Soopers, Safeway) usually have them for less. Wish I had more info, but we always buy season passes, so we don't pay attention to the deals on individual lift tickets.

Darn! I was hoping I could send you a coupon, but I don't have one. Those Entertainment books usually have some "buy an adult lift ticket get a child's lift ticket free", but I don't have the latest book.

Also, if this is your (or your kids) first time, you probably want to take (or put them in) a lesson. Lessons usually include a lift ticket, so if you plan to do that, don't buy another ticket separately.

Have fun!

Check out Steamboat and Crested Butte in Co they have free kids skiing with an adult ticket, unless it changed this year. By no means is it cheap to ski anymore.......I see that more and more tickets are in the 70.00 per day range!

Try Christy Sports, Gart Sports, Colorado Ski and Golf, Walgreens, and Breeze ski rental.

Thanks everyone! I think we will wait to buy the tickets until we get there. Now, to decide where we are going to go....

Vail, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain are all good choices.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for and when you are going. I like copper mountain, breckenridge and keystone because it is closer to Denver. I heard Steamboat Springs is nice, but personally I like to ski Loveland on the weekends because I don't like to wait in the lift lines. Loveland is not a resort but it has pretty good runs for each level, I think.

Thanks again!! We skied Keystone when our DD was an infant and have not skied since (she is now 7  ). My DH would like to go to Breckenridge. I have been looking online at Breckenridge, Keystone, Steamboat, Park City, UT, and Deer Valley, UT. I was planning to use his points from the hotels he has stayed at for a free room, but he would really like to stay slopeside. So, now I am looking at a hotel also. Keep the advice coming!! :goodvibes

Copper Mountain is a great mountain to ski with kids. My DS6 and DS4 both learned to ski at Copper and we usually ski there most of the winter. Copper is set up with the beginner trails primarily on one side of the mountain and as you work your way across the skiing gets more difficult. This is great for keeping more advanced skiers out of the beginner areas. All the places mentioned for tickets are great choices.

If you and your husband are interested in Breckenridge lodging, here are two websites to look at:

Sorry I can't be much help - living here, we usually drive up for the day and come back home that evening.

I like Breckenridge; it's a neat town and a pretty ski area. My personal favorite is Vail because of the variety of ski slopes and things to do off the slopes at the end of the day.

Have fun no matter where you go!!

I really like Beaver Creek for an adults only trip. The Hyatt there is beautiful. It's next to Vail and not a far drive from Keystone. All three resorts are owned by the same company. Keystone is considered the family resort and Beaver Creek a little more upscale. I went to Steamboat Springs in the summer and it was great! I'm sure it's just as nice in the winter, but a little more out of the way.

I have aways thought Vail to be really pricey--up there with Aspen. I may have to look at Vail as well. I will check out those web site Sandy V. Thanks!!

That is exactly why I love Steamboat it is out of the way.......more of a destination resort and not as many "weekend warriors" it is also VERY kid friendly, I believe they still have the kids ski free deal too and if you are looking to save money that is one way of doing it. The town is also pretty neat, I just found that it is way more laid back, I like Keystone also, which gives you the option of skiing at night, but it does get very busy on the weekends as do most of the resorts that are right off of the interstate and so close to Denver...........looks like the resorts really got some snow the past couple of days!!

You do pay a few more $$ for the lift tickets, but the number of runs is HUGE. So there's lots of variety. Plus, Vail Village is fun to shop and eat in; lots of things to look at.

I do know a little about resorts here. There is a nice Marriott over by the Lionshead lift. We have stayed at the Mountain Haus resort as well, but it's a large condo set up (2-3 bedrooms, sleeps 10), so that would be too big for you and your husband. They may have smaller units; we were there for a soccer tournament so we needed the extra beds and bathrooms.

So far, it's been a good year for skiing here - there HAS been quite a bit of snow in the mountains, which we LOVE. Fortunately, not so much of it here on the Front Range. But it's been cold, that's for sure!
