Our annual multi-trip policy through Protect My Bubble is up for renewal. It cost £38 last year. This year they want £90 and that includes a 10% renewal discount. I should coco! The cheapest I can find is £37.44 through Big Blue (not on Quidco, so no cashback). Seems reasonable enough, but just thought I'd check in here in case anyone knows of any tricks or loopholes. :thumbsup2

Most of them seem to offer £10M medical cover and, to be honest, that's the only thing I'm really that bothered about. In my experience they try to wriggle out of claims for almost everything else.

I have my insurance free with Nationwide. It cost £20 to upgrade to annual worldwide cover.

Trouble with insurance is you have no idea how good they are until you try claim. I used to go for the cheapest I could find until the Ash cloud and they would not pay us anything.
Its now one thing I will pay more for and go with an established reputeable company. I am now with Post Office, last year with Marks & Spencer. It cost about £150 for their top cover (after Quidco) but I hope if I ever need medical care they will be OK, I just don't know about these £38 companies.

ETA, I had a customer in yesterday just returned from Kos with a broken wrist, couldn't get anything out of insurance. No idea who it was could be a cheap company or PO for all I know but as you say they try wriggle out of any claim.

I just done quidco compare and protect your bubbke coming up cheap for us at 43£ for annual policy

I know what you mean, Wayne. For donkey's years we were with Barclays. Their cover consistently won top place in consumer and industry surveys, and I used to get two discounts - a staff one and another because we also had our buildings and contents insurance with them. When we needed to make a claim for a kitchen worktop a few years back (the first ever on the household insurance in the 30 YEARS I'd been with them) they really put us through the mill. It took months and months and months to get it all sorted out and then they doubled our premium and quadrupled our excess. I understand that they suffer from bogus claims, but it was the first claim I'd made in 30 years! It still makes me furious and I don't trust any of them. It's just a necessary evil.

ETA: Needless to say, I no longer have any insurances with Barclays!

personally think you shouldn't just go for the cheapest for insurance. We have been with insureandgo for may years. Claimed a few times never had a problem have always gone for no excess and with all my pre existing conditions still cheap compared to others

It was I&Go that wouldn't pay out for us:rotfl2: not used them since. You just can't know until you put your claim in with any company, cheap or expensive.
