anyone followed an "Unofficial Guide" tour? results?

I just got this book and am facinated w/ much of the research they've done and the little minutia they've uncovered! Very interesting reading...
Anyway, just curious if anyone has followed their tours they publish and what was your experience?
I really don't think it would work well for us since we have 3 small kids and the character stops would totally throw off the schedule. But they do interest me since this is my first visit and we'll only have 2 full days there (Thurs and Sunday).

No I have not. But I have used RideMax (www.ridemax.com), which I like because you can create your own customized itineraries.

I have the books with the itinerary in them. Honestly get a map of the park and study it, and plan your own itinerary. That's what we do, in 2 days you will be able to see and do it all. Fast passes are your best friend!

For those who have a better feel for how lines build up on rides, I can see this working. But for who don't, this could turn into a frustrating experience.

RideMax is not for everyone, but for $15 one can get software that will do this for you - with a lot of expertise behind it. It could take a non-experienced person many hours to plan something like this for both DL and DCA. $15 is peanuts compared to the cost of a visit to DLR.

I have yet to use the Unofficial Guide for Disneyland, but I have used the one for WDW before and found it very helpful. If anything I think it helps you know what the popular rides are and what to avoid during certain times.

I ALWAYS use it as a base for planning. We usually alter a few things, but if you have a plan, it saves time having to stop and discuss after each ride what you're going to do next. You just do what the book says. It really cuts down on arguing in our family!

Plus, it WORKS!
