Anyone else out there as scared as me that their flight to WDW is going to get cancelled?!!! We're supposed to fly out of Albany on Sunday at 7:30am. The hurricane is scheduled to hit NY at 8am. OMG! All other flights on Southwest are either sold out, or up to $350 one way which I can't afford. I wanted to try flying out Sat night to beat the storm and get a hotel for the night, but it doesn't look like that will work...

No, but I live in North NJ, and feel for you - i leave in 3 weeks for my vacation and it's still hurricane season, so I may end up in the same situation. I dont think flying out Saturday night will help, because this storm is basically going to be working it's way up the East Coast. Maybe it will track further out to sea and you'll still make it - i hope so :) Another thing to consider is seeing if you can alter your reservation by 1 day, and fly down a day later? I don't know if that's possible, but I hope it works out for you :)

We're flying out of White Plains at 10AM on Sunday. It is what it is. I'd rather my flight be cancelled and I get where I'm going a day later than my flight be "cancelled" in midair (if you know what I'm saying).

Irene could always change her mind or run out of steam. But I'll be hoping for the best (for both of us :goodvibes).

If predictions turn out to be correct, your flight will likely be canceled. You can either wait it out, or take proactive action and rebook. Unfortunately, by now, it's likely that you won't be able to get any earlier flights, even if you do try and rebook. Make alternate plans now.

I know jetblue is waiving their fees right now. I have a friend flying out of SYR on Sunday, but SYR is not on the list of NY locations that the fees are waived. I would try to get out a day early if possible. Check with your airline and see what the options are.

I have a 7:30AM out of Hartford on Saturday morning. Although Bradley is on SWA's list right now, I think Sunday is going to be the big problem here. I expect to pass Irene like strangers in the night!!! (From my mouth to God's ear!!!!)

Good luck to all. Be safe.

Well, the expected happened. I got booted from my flight. But let me say this, the Southwest customer service rep was by far, one of the BEST and nicest people i have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. She was so kind and so helpful. As soon as this storm is over, I'm going to call back and let her manager know how amazing she was and how she made this horrible situation so much easier due to her help. This has truly made me a Southwest customer for life. So anyways, looks like we're going to drop our SeaWorld day, head out on Tuesday and back the following Sunday. So we loose one day, but to be honest, I wasn't dead set on Sea World anyways, so it's not a huge loss to me! Right now I'm waiting for my travel agent to call with numbers to find out how much Disney will charge me for this change. At least the airline change was free....

Us too, mamapapa, Jet Blue cancelled everything for Sunday at all NY airports and booked us onto a late flight Monday. I called and stayed on hold for nearly an hour but the CS rep that eventually assisted me was awesome. Instead of flying out on Sunday and returning on Friday we're flying out Monday afternoon and returning Saturday afternoon. No fees, no extra costs, nothing. The CS rep was a true doll. I then got our reservations changed with Disney and all is well. Unfortunately I had to cancel two of my ADRs but it's not nearly as bad as getting stranded in the airport or missing our trip entirely :scared1:.

Plus I feel better about being home during the hurricane, just in case.

Good luck to you guys, and anyone else travelling during Irene's rampage and have a great trip!
