I am trying to book some airfare using expedia but I cant figure it out. Its lists a flight on northwest then changing planes to an american airline plane. Does that mean I have to go and get my luggage and recheck in? What if the first leg is late or is cancelled, Am I still gauranteed on another flight?

Call Northwest and ask them if they will check the bags through to your other connecting flight which is a non Northwest airline.

I'm not sure of the answer to your questions, but I recommend you book directly with Northwest on their site. The prices are the same as all of the travel sites, but you don't get charged the $5-15 booking fee that you do through the travel sites.

We have done this. When you check your bags they check them thru to your destination. You can even watch and see what airport is on the luggage tag. But we have flown 2 different airlines on the same trip.

Thanks all. I did check the northwest website and its about triple the price. I ended up paying a little more and booking thru southwest. Thanks!
