We just got a great deal on roundtrip tix from DCA-MCO ($138) for our trip in March. We usually fly out of BWI but I couldn't pass up this price. For those of you that have flown out of DCA, can you tell me about it? Parking? Is it a confusing layout?....TIA!

Parking at DCA ia high at $12 a day. There are no off-site private parking lots like at BWI. Just follow the signs when you get to the airport and you should be OK.

We used to fly out of Dulles all the time but flew out of of DCA a few times. WHat I like is that it is a fairly small airport. Each concourse has it's own security so it' snot like the entire airport goes through the same security We find it to be one of teh easiest airports to navigate.

if you go to www.mwaa.com and go to the DCA page, you can find a layout of the terminals and parking and it is very easy to naviagte.

I fly in and out of Reagan every year while leading a class trip of about 50+ seventh graders! I find it quite easy to navigate and far prefer it over many other airports.

What airline are you flying?

Delta - this is new for us also. We usually fly Airtran from BWI but couldn't pass up the price.

Thanks everyone for the info on DCA - I feel much better about flying out of it now - I hate changing airports but again the price was just too good.

$12 a day for parking at an airport is a bargain! This is incorrect anyway.

It costs $36.00 to park 24 hours at National Airport at hourly garages and $20.00 at daily garages. The $12.00 is for the economy lots which are not located at the airport terminal.

I almost always use DCA (over 25 trips so far this year).

Parking costs $20 per day in the daily garage which is connected to the terminal via an enclosed walkway. The Hourly Parking is in the same parking structure as Daily Parking, it is located on level 2 which is the level the walkway to the terminal is on so you avoid needing to use the elevator....thats the only difference between the two. I have never used the Economy lot because it is off-site and you need to take a shuttle to reach the airport from the lot.

Its been awhile since I have flown Delta so I am not certain, but they might have a check-in desk as you enter the terminal from the enclosed parking garage / Metro walkway. If not you will need to go up one level to check-in.

Security is a breeze and even during peak times I have never waited more than 10 minutes.

I have also found the wait for checked luggage is very short at DCA. I fly US Airways and sometimes the luggage is waiting before I even make it to the baggage claim!

Enjoy your trip!

Actually the economy parking is on the airport property and is not that far from the terminal. We always use economy parking at DCA and it has never taken more than 10 minutes from the time we park to the time we arrive at the terminal. It is a lot closer than the economy parking at BWI or Dulles.

Thanks for the info - was beginning to think my big savings in airfare was going to get eaten up by parking. We were hoping to find a park and fly hotel nearby but the prices are crazy compared to what we used to pay at BWI. So I think we'll try the economy lot.

Enjoy your flight. As you have found, there are no economical park and fly hotels nearby.
