spur of the moment I decided to get my dh dreamgirls tix for next weekend. he loves the movie (and yes, he would die if he knew I was posting that on a public board, lol) and would love to see the show live. I think he will be really excited, so I lined up a sitter and got the best tix I could. well, I thought I did. now I am worried they are far too close to the stage.

anyone familiar with the theatre know how worried I should be about this? we are orch center row E.

If the Colonial is the theater I am thinking of, it is a small and intimate theater (as far as grand old theaters go) so no one is VERY far from the stage. We saw "Kiss Me Kate" in New York years ago and had the same seats as you do (fifth row center orchestra) in a theater roughly the same size, and it was GREAT! Close enough that you could see everything clearly, but not so close to be uncomfortable. Your husband will be thrilled. ENJOY!

thank you! I am hoping he is going to be thrilled..think he will, but now I am second guessing myself right and left. although I know he will love the show.

no, you shouldn't be too close at all! i think i usually sit around row K (press seats...;) ) and i wish i could be a little closer. You'll definitely be able to see a lot of detail, and i imagine that will be great with all of the costuming!

i was supposed to see the show next week, but the original press night got cancelled and i can't afford to take work off to see it on Friday. :headache: i hope you enjoy it!!

let me know if you have any other questions, i spend a lot of time in the theater district.

I saw Mamma Mia at the Colonial Theatre. I don't think you can go wrong with seats in the center section.

thanks all. and kaffity, that does help

once I have the tix in my hand I'll breathe easier. I cannot wait to tell my dh about this! we have been belt tightening a lot for the past year or so and this a big splurge for us. he is going to be over the moon.

any restaurant recommendations near the theatre?

there's lots of places right around there, as the theater borders the commons, but me & my editor tend to go to Rock Bottom (http://rockbottom.com/). They have a turkey club that i just :lovestruc

are you driving or taking the train?

we are driving. we drive into boston a lot and are familiar with boston (I used to work there, and dh grew up a few miles outside the city) but we are always looking for new places that might be good. :)
