Anyone experience BURNOUT at work?

Is there anyone else that has faced BURNOUT at work?

Here is what I call burnout:

You use to enjoy your job, career and coworkers but now:

You just HATE going into to work
You can not stand a large number of co-workers
You want to call in sick alot (with the blue flu)
The energy and interest you had with your job is gone
You are just going through the motions
But you have no interest in finding another job in your career field.

I will admit to having a few burnout days as you describe, but the energy and enthusiasm of the students I work with and their simple joys bring me out of any funk I may be in. Hang around a few kids and your mood will surely lift. I can just tune out the co workers and bureaucracy who annoy me on any particular day.

DEFINITELY! And those feelings seem to comeand go with the mood my boss is in. He's like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. When he's being difficult and downright nasty (which can last months) it is a struggle to get up each day and go in. He has really affected the morale of us all. The past month or so he's been in a good mood...which is scary because you know Mr. Hyde is coming to town at any time. I really do like my co-workers for the most part (a few are very good friends) and I see it this way: I"ve been here 12 years and I KNOW my boss...I know his bad points...what if I go somewhere else with no seniority and I have a boss with even WORSE bad points?
