Anyone ever worked in the polls? How does your name get removed?

I have always voted and my name has always been on the book until today. I still got to vote on the sheet but I don't understand why my name was gone. We haven't moved, I haven't gotten divorced or married, I always vote at the same place. My husband's name was still there. Just weird. Oh and I haven't died

Have you checked carefully about the "not dead" part?

Okay, it may be that you didn't vote in enough previous elections to keep your registration current- or most likely that the election board screwed up. Did you vote using a contested ballot? If so, the election officials can look you up in the master system, and then record your ballot (typically this is done immediately unless there are mass amounts of contested ballots- but that is a different thread).

I know in our precinct the "little old ladies" (God Bless them) are the election judges. They don't always see well, and get confused about things like hyphenated names (Mine is hyphenated and they kept telling me I wasn't listed under the second name....had to show them that I was listed under the first- as it was written on my voter registration card). There are millions of names, and statistically likely that a few will get messed up- No problem, unless it is YOURS!

You might also want to check to see if you filled out and returned a town census form. I know in my town it states on the form that failure to return it can result in removal from town voter registration lists.

From what I've seen in the news this is happening to many people. It happened to actor Tim Robbins and he went to a judge to get himself reinstated.

In MN you can register at the polls so you don't have to 'pre-register' so that isn't an issue here. Were you able to vote?

Yes I was able to vote. I'm planning on going to the Court House and seeing the problem in a few weeks. I'll let everyone handle their problems first and wait until it's not so busy.
