We are going out west this summer and would like to spend 3 days at Disneyland and are considering using our DVC points to stay in one of the on-site hotels. Has anyone done this and at which hotel have you stayed? We are thinking about splurging and doing Grand California concierge. Any feedback?

We stayed there one night 4 years ago - we were stopping in LA on the way to china to pick up our youngest - we flew in, spent the night, my middle child got up really early so she and I got a hot chocolate and sat by the fire. We then went to Cal. Adventure and we were so tired by 4pm that we had to lay down. Our plane was late and was scheduled to leave for China at 11p but didn't leave until 3am so we were very tired. But such a nice present when we got there - our new little darling who is now almost 6 and has been to disney 3 times!!!!

Okay - I got carried away and never told you about the hotel - I think it is a great hotel - right near Gr. Cal. and the other two disney hotels are just as good - they are all right there. The Grand Cal. is a little more elaborate though.

We are staying at GC concierge on points this September. It is our third stay at GC but our first using points. At the time we made the reservation our cost using points beat the best rate we could find on the internet and that worked out to about a 20% discount off of the rack rates.

:sunny: We stayed there last Easter - stayed 3 nights at the DL Hotel - had 2 adjoining rooms/suites on the concierge level. Wonderful accomodations - my kids (16,14,8) loved it. Loved being able to walk to parks - no crowds compared to WDW. Kids would love to go back - preferred it to WDW. Did it on points - was worth it to me.

We just came back from DL. We used points to stay at Disneyland Hotel for 3 nights during Spring Break. We got adjoining rooms for my in-laws and we all enjoyed our stay there. Our room had two queen beds and a nice sofa as well as a mini fridge. Also had a very nice view of the pool from our room on the 11th floor. Kids just loved the pool! Good service throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Though I'd love to try the GC cause it just looked great from the outside.

Stayed 3 nights each at GC and DLH in 2001 on points. GC standard room overlooking the hotel entrance and parking lots was okay - the hotel itself is beautiful but the room was just a standard hotel room. The room at DH was much bigger and had two queen size beds and a daybed so all of us slept nicely. At GC we asked for roll away- no such thing- got a sleeping bag and floor mat. It worked out fine but DLH was much more comfortable. We had an upper floor room overlooking the pool and could see some of DTD Had a small refrigerator at DH vs the wet bar at GC. Had planned to do it again this year but waited too long to get ressies for July and the only ones available were more points than I wanted to use for that. Hopefully will rent out the points and use the money to stay at a good neighbor hotel and buy our tickets and food while we are there.

Just made reservations last week for 4 nights in August at the GC. We used points and reserved a DD view. It did made my head spin at the number of points. But we tried for a couple of months to find a good cash deal and couldn't. Every place we checked was over $350 a night with tax. After costing out our points we are only paying around $250 a night. Probably should have rented the points and paid cash, but I was nervous that we wouldn't get it all taken care before our trip.
