Anyone ever use "packing cubes"

I'm a frequent business traveler and use an "Eagle Creek Packing Folder". I love it. I can pack 5 days' worth of clothes in it and it fits in a small carry-on. The biggest advantage is that you can fold everything and it doesn't wrinkle. However, they are pretty expensive to buy a bunch of them for the whole family.

Thanks for the reply Superdisneydad! I think I'm going to pick up a couple of these just to pack some of the small items, ie: socks, undies, bathing suits...anything that wrinkles won't matter. I'm not going to pack everything in them....I agree that would be quite a costly endeavor! Thanks again!

I used them for my last trip, they did save space. I put shirts on one, bottoms in another, sock and undies in another. It's nice to just take them directly out of your suitcase and into the hotel room dresser. They keep everything together versus all mixed up everywhere in your suitcase. -Steph

Thanks for the idea! I just ordered 2 sets from eBags. I love to be organized so I think I will really love these.

Thanks to the replies on this thread, I went ahead and ordered two sets of the packing cubes (two different sizes) and two sets of the envelopes! I received shipping confirmation yesterday and will let you all know what I think when they arrive.

Here's a hint to save you some money...just use ziploc bags and suck out the air with a straw. Buy the cheapest bags...I got some at the Dollar store. It worked great for our cruise at Thanksgiving. My silk skirts which I folded to as narrow of a strip of fabric as I could get...basically it was 1/4 of the width of the waist. Then I rolled it from waist to hem and placed in a quart size ziploc along with the other silk and rayon skirts I took and zipped the bag shut with the straw in it and then sucked out the air. I had only a couple of wrinkles which were about 1 inch long at the waistband.

Just a thought...

My packing cubes from eBags came by UPS last night. VERY NICE quality! I am really looking forward to using them for my May trip. I checked Target today and their prices are much higher for a similar item. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE IDEA!!

I bought some nice packing cubes at Target this weekend. There are two cubes, partially mesh, one big and one small and they are on clearance for $3.74 for two.

Seems like a good deal

The Eagle Creek shirt envelopes are wonderful. I can pack a week's worth of shirts and a pair of trousers into the lid of my carry-on suitcase and they arrive at my destination as crisp as the day I brought them home.

The packing cubes are a great space-saver and organizer. I have two of them, but I'm never able to use more than one as I seem to get everything I need into just the one.

These packing organizers have definitely changed the way I travel.

I have to second momsgoofy's suggestion of zip-top bags. I swear by the two-gallon zip top freezer bags (they are indestructable) when I pack for anything. I separate hubbys boxers and sox from my underthings and then I zip them 90% of the way and then sit on them to flatten and then zip the rest of the way as I'm sitting on them. Nice and flat. I also used them for t-shirts and all sorts of other small items. So easy for packing and unpacking.
