Anyone ever mail liquids (toiletries) to resort ahead of time?

We are going on Wed 9/8-Sat 9/11 (short getaway) and will only be taking our free "personal item" (backpack) on our Spirit flight (since carry-ons now have a fee). Considering sending a medium size priority mail box ($10.60) to OKW a few days ahead of time with some basics like sunscreen, shampoo/conditioner, etc... rather than buy that stuff at the resort (we will not have a rental car).

Anyone else ever done this? Pros, cons???

It strikes me as penny wise but pound foolish. Checking one bag is only $25 online, so for less than $40 total you can have plenty of room to take anything else down you might need, you won't have to fuss with a trip to the post office, *and* you wouldn't have to throw away leftovers or deal with shipping them back.

We have and it is not so much about the baggage fees as it is about waiting at the airport for our bag(s), can't stand doing it with the kids. Don't know that I'd bother though for a short weekend type trip, how much liquids would you want to bring that wouldn't be supplied at the hotel?

I have sent a box of toiletries/snacks down but it was for a week long trip. I sent it USPS a few days before we left and it showed up in our room the 2nd day we were there (I put the wrong zip code on the package so thinking that it took extra time). We happened to have been upgraded to club level so after we packed the box back up they made sure the box got to the right place at the resort to get shipped back out. Otherwise you take the package to the front desk and they will help you get it shipped back home. I think we used Fed-Ex to ship it back home, not sure if USPS or UPS would have also been an option.
I would do it again, but for a short trip I would try to manage with our carry-ons. But since Spirit charges for carry-ons I would consider sending a package as the less expensive route. Just make sure to send it several days ahead of time and triple check the zip code! :goodvibes

Mostly concerned with a few tubes of sunscreen (fair Irish family), which if I had to buy there at the resort would easily cost the price of the shipping and my own shampoo/conditioner (I don't like the in-room kind). Thinking further about it, there are 4 of us, we could probably use 3-1-1 rule and one could bring sunscreen and the others could bring shampoo , etc......

Thanks for the input from everyone!

I've mailed boxes ahead before but finally I signed up with Owners Locker - what a great service - I don't have to think about any of that stuff anymore - I have an inventory in my "wdw bag" and I update it every trip - now the shampoo, sunscreen, ears, spray bottles etc all have a home and I don't have to worry about forgetting anything or accidentally carrying something I shouldn't.

I have found travel size sunscreen at Target that are legal size through airport security. With 4 of you going I think you can get enough fluids through for a long weekend.

That's why we have an Owner's Locker. We shipped a box with all those items and now we just store them there. It's a wonderful service. If you make annual (or more) trips then you really should look into them.

I shipped a 45 Lb box to fill our Owners Locker.... We fly carry-ons mostly now for up to 6 night trips since we got the OL but I doubt I could go in just a backpack. FWIW I wouldn't be flying Spirt... that's an absurd rule they have. At some point cheap flights just aren't worth the hassle. But whatever. Maybe you could pay for ONE carry-on that you all share?!

Even tho I personally don't use the H2O products ('cuz I use the stuff for color treated hair) I think that for just a weekend trip I'd suck it up & use it. That way you only need to bring any facial moisturizers & sunscreens. You can either buy the pre-filled 30 SPF Coppertone bottles in the Travel Aisle at Target or Walmart OR buy 99 cent 3 oz. refillable bottles in the travel section & fill them with the sunscreen of your choice and put one or two each in your quart zip locks. (You can each have a ziplock you know.) I am able to bring several 2-3 oz bottles in each zip lock. I stuff 'em full.

You might consider an Owners Locker after this trip!:rolleyes1 You can leave everything you'd need down there waiting for you!
