It looks like they are going to be building a new Dominicks Food store very close to me. Anyone ever have anything like this or similiar built close to them and was it for better or worse.

I ask because I can be heard if I don't agree with there proposal.

about 5 years ago King Soopers (Kroger) opened a store about 3 blocks from us-We were not happy at the time but really it has not been a problem at all-an it is handy to be able to run in there on the way home from work, or send a kid over (I can see them out the window from when they leave home until they enter they store and all the way back-besides now they are both teens) if I need something on short notice. There is also a video store, a Papa Murphys pizza and a Wendy's in the same complex. Biggest complaint is that it has increased traffic on the two main streets outside of our subdivision and getting home from work can be a pain sometimes, especially if the weather is bad and lots of people decide to shop after work.

An L&L's was built near us about 8 years ago. There was a huge fight trying to stop it from happening in our township. I didn't care one way or another at the time.

I love it. It's great. It doesn't make our neighborhood have more traffic or more garbage or any of the things the "anti group" said would happen. It's very convenient, actually :)

I do not drive, so I am very grateful that there is a Kash N Karry nearby. There is some construction starting just next to my building. I am sure it is another apartment complex, but I would not complain if it turns out to be another grocery store. I imagine a grocery store would be less noisy than an apartment complex anyway. Location is always the determining factor to where I shop since I have to carry everything home.

is going up practically right across the street from me. As we are a small town, and my sons and all of their friends attend the school i don't mind. But we are a shore town and construction means pile driving. This starts this week, and I don't look forward to this. I have plaster walls and I wonder how many new cracks I will get this week.

I live very close to a grocery store, but we live on a road that is strictly residential, so it doesn't affect traffic in the slightest. I love it. It takes me about 3 minutes to get to the store. There's also a Blockbuster, drug store, and lots of other places that I go to regularly, so I've gotten really spoiled. The mall is about 15 minutes away, and I complain when I have to go there. :D

We have an A&P right around the corner. It's very nice to be so close when you're in the middle of cooking and have forgotten something when you shopped.

However, we tend to have grocery carts all over the neighborhood because of people who walk there and then just leave the cart on the curb or at the corner.

We use to live with an Ameristop right across the alley from us and loved it. Then we moved where I would have to drive to get something I forgot and for major grocery shopping it meant a 25 minute drive. We now have a Krogers up the road from our subdivision....I love it. I even walk there on Sunday evenings to pick up a few things. It is a nice walk (20 minutes) and I love the exercise. It has taken over a year to get a Walmart approved for 7 miles away from us....it was finally approved and I can't wait till it opens....I am tired of driving 20-25 minutes to get items I need.

Let's see... I live in Houston on one of the busiest streets (Westheimer), so I have 3 stores (plus the Japanese grocery) within a one mile radius. It's quite a blessing, because if one store doesn't have what I need, then I pop over to one of the other stores. But that's the beauty of living smack in the middle of one of the largest cities in America. I thrive in this environment, while my DH pines for country livin'.
