We are considering eating at the House of Blues during our trip in August. It sounds like a fun place to eat. I was wondering if those of you who have eaten there would be willing to share their experiences (both good and bad). Thanks! It will be just me and my 14 year old son and we might be going to the Train concert there as well, so I thought he might like this.

My husband and I enjoyed HOB both times we've been there. I had jambalaya (kicked up several notches from the norm) and my husband the shrimp etouffe` (also spiced up). Both entrees were very good. It's been a few years since we went (although we usually hit the Voodoo Garden for a cocktail each visit. At the time they also served a jalapeno cornbread that we thought was terrific (and I am not a fan of cornbread).

I've seen other reviews here about the po' boy sandwiches--all positive. Nice atmosphere and our food was good.

Everytime we go to WDW we try to eat there, the wife and MIL love the po boys. I'm ribs fan but also tried the twin medallions of beef which were really good too.One of our boys tried the pizza and love it.

My aunt and I enjoyed it two years ago. I know one of us had pork chops that were excellent... can't remember which one of us or what the other had, but it was good. And I loved the mashed sweet potatoes!

This is my favorite of the 'themed' restarants. I love the one in wdw and the one at mandalay bay in vegas.

The food, service and atmosphere are all great.

It's a great place for a lunch break from shopping at dtd.

The rosemary cornbread is awesome.

House of Blues is our favorite restaurant at Downtown Disney. We have eaten here many times in the past. WE love there Jambalaya and Meat Loaf dinners. Try an order of Rosemary Cornbread with your meal it is great.

Thanks for all the positive comments about the House of Blues. I definitely plan on eating there now. It sounds delicious! Do you need reservations or do they even take them? Thanks again for the information and comments!!

we've eaten there several times and loved it every time. our only complaint is that the portions are so big we never have room for dessert! :p

i am not sure if they take reservations, but (with just a party of 2) the longest wait we've ever had was 20-30 minutes. we usually end up eating early or late though so there may be longer waits. when you have a wait time they give you a pager and you can browse some of the dtd shops. they also have a bar that you can wait at if you prefer. :)

I used to go alot on local band nights, it is a great place to catch a variety of music.

On the food side of it, their cornbread is like Olive Garden salad!! (when I go there that is all I end up eating)

We like to eat out in the Voodoo Garden in the evenings. Its lit with lights on the trees and there's a candle on all the tables. Usually there's a table back here even if there's a wait inside. Its great to sit by the water and watch the lights of DTD at night. We've never had a problem w/service out here either and its much quieter than the bustling interior of the restaurant. The food is great too. We like the shrimp po-boy, meatloaf, and jamabalaya-- their catfish nuggets are good too. And for Disney, its not too pricey. My DH & I can usually eat here for around $40-$45 with tip-- that's dinner, drink, and appetizer. Relatively one of our cheaper meals at Disney.

If the need strikes-- head for the bathroom. It is the WILDEST decorated facility I've been in!!

It's our favorite place to eat at WDW. We just returned from a trip to WDW in May and we loved it so much this time we ate there twice! Their po boys are awesome and the Elwood is really good as well (according to DH.) Would definitely suggest this restaurant for a fun night. The atmosphere is fun and the food is incredible! We have never had to wait but tend to eat earlier than the busier times. We go usually between 5:00 - 6:00. Hope you have a great time!

DH and I had an early dinner there before seeing Cirque du Soleil and it was a great way to start the evening....

I had a Risotto dish with roasted corn and a crabmeat sauce - it was spicy, but not too, and the portion was huge! DH had a bacon wrapped filet mignon that he said was delish (okay, my husband NEVER says 'delish'... I threw that in myself) He actually said it was "quite good"

But really, we both loved the food. It can get a little loud, but the live music is fun.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

I haven't eaten at the WDW DD one yet, but years ago I ate at the one in New Orleans and in April I ate at the one at Disneyland's Downtown Disney. I really enjoy this place, and generally chains and especially themed chains disappoint me. The menu has a great variety, and there are some inexpensive options in there for the penny-pinchers, and their servings are huge. I would definitely go back-- next time we're in DD we will probably go.

We didn't have reservations last August - and we went on a Saturday night - but we did get there early - about 5:00. We waited about 5 minutes for a table.

It's a great spot!!!! ENJOY!

We didn't care for it. Food was average, at most, and fairly expensive. We won't be going back. There are too many other places that are much better.

I'm so glad our next trip includes a Sunday so we can go back to the Gospel Brunch. This is a great way to try a variety of their amazing dishes and see a great show too :)

This is our favorite restaurant at Downtown Disney. Be sure to save room for dessert. Their Banana Bread Pudding is awesome and big enough to share.

This was the one meal we hated on our trip last year. DH got the Cajun Meatloaf which was a very small helping for the price. DS got Jambalaya which he liked okay. I got Shrimp Etoufee. When the waitress brought it out I thought it looked funny. It had no rice. I finally got her attention and said there was no rice. She said are you sure. I stirred around the thin broth looking stuff and there was no rice. She brought out a bowl of rice for me but where I am from etoufee is not soupy or watery as this was. No flavor at all. We will not go there again.
