Anyone ever dealt with "Erie Insurance Company"?

I am looking at buying an annuity with Erie Insurance Agency, but am not real familiar with the company. I have a good friend that has a son that works there and he bought one from his son. Anyway, all I have heard is good, but just wondered if anyone else has comments on this company. Thanks.

We've used them for our car insurance for the past 25 years. We've had 3 accident claims in that time - never a problem. Several years ago, our RV was sitting in a mechanic's lot waiting for service and it was broken into. Mechanic tried to tell us it wasn't his problem and that there was no way his insurance would pay for it. Erie "helped" him see the error in his logic! We also use them for homeowner's insurance, but have never had any claims. They have a very good reputation in our state, although I've never used them for any other services.

Hmmm, I have heard good things about Erie Insurance, but bad things about annuities

they are one of the biggest car insurers in the northeast and have been for some time.
