Anyone ever buy at VB or HHI with little to no intentions of staying there?

I bought into DVC a few days after 9-11. We had planned a trip to New Orleans however; that airport wasn't open (Philadelphia was) thus; we werecancelled. When I got home from work, there was a DVC special postcard in the box, 99$ a night, 4th night free at HHI. We went there (our vacation time was already booked for work), went to presentation and had our choice of VWL or HHI. We went with HHI with the knowledge that we would never stay there.

We did not use the HHI points until about 2005 or so, when we went to HHI versus paying to go to Ocean City MD. LOVED IT!! Have gone every year since and brought many friends along to enjoy it

As the years passed, we added on more HHI points, VWL and AKV. We tend to do HHI every year and WDW every 16 months or so.

I bought direct for all my contracts so, I cannot comment on the resale market.

I think it makes much more sense to buy ssr for alittle more and get the longer life and low maintenance fees, not to mention being able to get somewhere at 11 months at wdw.
