Anyone ever added extra guests at checkin?

I had read that you can add extra guests at checkin with no problem, however, I called the Boardwalk directly today and asked if I could do that and was told they had to be added to the reservation prior to our arrival. We may have another couple (family members) go with us, but they will not know until right at time to go. I don't want to book 4 adults and pay the extra $50 per night deposit if it turns out to be only 2 of us. Just wondered if anyone has had trouble waiting til arrival to do this?

I added a person on a couple of days prior to leaving and had no problem, but I know that is a little different.

If it was me, I would wait until the minute I found out that they were going and then even call from a cell phone on the way if you have to. That way, you aren't really waiting until actual check-in to add them on. It would also save you a whole lot of time to call on your way as opposed to having to wait at check-in while they modify everything and you would know prior to arriving if there is going to be a problem.

I think if you're on a package, everyone needs to be on the package, hence the reason they'd give you a problem about adding a person at check in.

If you're on a room-only, you should be able to do it no problem.

IF you have a package and you wait until the last minute to add two people, then you'd have to pay the change fee. If you add them now and take them off later, you'd still only be charged the change fee - cause you're changing and not completely cancelling the reservation.

But like I said - if you've got room only, don't sweat it. They should be able to add someone no problem at check in. :)

A few months ago I wasn't sure if there was going to be another adult in our party or not. Since he wouldn't know until the last minute, I spoke with Stephanie at the Poly and she said we could add an extra adult at check in and pay the extra 25.00/night. Even if we were on the package and they weren't.

I don't know if each resort is different on their policies. I just know what they told me at the Poly...Good luck!

Last year we stayed at Polynesian concierge on a package plan. When we checked in we told them that my father (Florida resident) would be spending the last 2 days with us. They said no problem. When he got there we just checked in at the desk to get him a room key and his 4 day Florida resident pass.

At the AKL in December, we added my fiance to our room (my mom and I) at check in. We had no problems and they gave us a third room key. If you are doing room only, I wouldn't worry about it until checkin. Packages are probably a little different.

Last year we were on a package for Poly Conceirge nad added my husband with no problem. He had an AP and we had 2 rooms and 3 adults, three kids. I think as long as you do not exceed the adults in the room you can do it at the last minute.

We will have a room only ressie as we have AP's. I hope you guys are right because I may not know until check in how long they can stay. But then again, you guys are always right!
