Anyone else with a reluctant child?

I second the suggestion to NOT watch the Its tough to be a bug, show. We were lured in by my mother in law who said "it is a cute little show" and by a smilling unassuming CM who called my kids "little bugs". We happily entered a very cool cave, which impressed my kids... not to mention they were given cool bug glasses on the way in. I have lots of smilling, happy pictures in that cave:)
When we left, my kids were ripping the glasses off screaming in terror all of the way out of the neat bug cave... we walked right past the smilling CM who said "awww, poor little bug". Yeah. That ride should have a warning out front!
My kids were freaked out the rest of the day. My son lost it when the lights dimmed during the Aladin show and I had to take him out for a short while and then I could only watch while standing above the seating area while holding him. It took a few days for them to pull out of it.

Also, something that worked for my kids was to give them a play by play of what was going to happen. On the last day my kiddos even rode the HM, but I gave them a play by play during the entire ride of what was going to happen.

Good luck:)

I was considering taking my son on this.....is it scary? Can someone give me a rundown of what happens? Please. Thanks

I've seen It's Tough to Be a Bug and I know that DS wouldn't like it so we'll definitely be skipping that one.

For PP who was asking about if it was scary, it's not that it's necessarily scary but there are of course the "bad guy" bugs who I could see might be scary to a little one but it also has things that will surprise you so for kids who don't like to be surprised it could be a very scary show.

OT but I love your scrolling turtle. That would totally go with our pet red earred slider, Peple the Party Turtle, he has decorations above his 55 gal aquarium that change with the seasons!

There are loud noises, fog, bugs shooting poison darts at you, bugs shooting acid at you, spiders dropping out of the ceiling, bugs "getting you in the end" (if you know what I mean!). My DS loved Bug's Life the movie so we thought he would be fine. What really got him was when one of the bugs spit on his new shirt -- that started a wail that required leaving the building. That was when he was 3. Just now, when he was 9 I finally got him to go on again but only if he could sit on my lap and avoid the poke.

Truly it is a very cute show but you should preview it and judge how it will affect your loved ones for yourself. Or you could be hearing about it for years to come . . .

I didn't notice the turtle until you mentioned it! That is so cute! :goodvibes We have a tortoise named Mr. Tuppins (Tuppy for short). Actually, Tuppins sort of came about because of the Mary Poppins song Feed the Birds. I know that it's "tuppence a bag" and not "tuppins" but somehow that's how we came up with the name, even though it's different.

My nephew is 6 and is terrified of DL. Hope he gets over it soon. I have known a few people like that so might have to learn to work around it. I hope it doesn't last for you.

I have to admit - I just went into It's Tough To Be a Bug for the first time the other day, and it made ME uncomfortable! And I am a 41-year-old woman! I don't like even the idea of bugs landing on me or squirting stuff at me, or rustling near my feet (the roaches at the end) - even though it's fake! It was kind of alarming and I could see how some sensitive kids may get scared by it! Even though HISTA in DL has scurrying mice and a snake, somehow it has a friendlier overall feel to it (though it bores me to tears).

And if any CM had said, "Aww...poor little bug" to me, I might have decked him!

my 7 year old daughter, who will ride TOT, Indy, matterhorn, space, splash, HM, POTC, and every other ride in the DLR that she is tall enough for with no hesitation whatsoever, is even afraid of the spiders in this show!

they have these big, plastic black widows that are let down on cables during the show, but because of the fog, you don't really see them until they are right above you (and they come down really far, i'd say within a few feet?).

we didn't go in there for fun on this last trip (just last week), we just went in to get out of the darn heat for a while, we were miserably hot outside and needed some reprieve. i don't think anybody in my family, except maybe DH, even *likes* the "it's tough to be a bug" show.
