Just thought I would start a thread for anyone looking for airfare to WDW from Detroit Metro for March. Maybe we can all help each other out if any great deals pop up!
DH and I are going to WDW 3-14-10 to 3-21-10. We will only fly nonstop. We have flown Spirit (belong to the Spirit Club) and Airtran in the past. I also have no problem booking one way flights if the price is right.
We have never flown SW because, even with the free baggage they are more expensive than the airlines I listed above.....and they only fly connecting flights out of DTW.
Right now Spirit has direct flights on our days for about $240 RT. I would normally book them, but DH still has to check on vacation days at work (hopefully any day now) and Airtran has not listed their "web specials" for March, and I prefer their flight times.

$240 is a very good price for non-stop weekend flights out of DTW for winter travel to Florida. AirTran might come out a litlte lower, but it's not going to be a lot lower. I wouldn't dawdle.

and they only fly connecting flights out of DTW.
SW used to have a direct flight or two each day, and it looks like they've added some in early April, though not every day. It will be interesting to see if that direct flight comes back on a more regular basis. They also have a few routes that are direct, but with one stop in Nashville. Total flight time on that is 4 hours, and you typically won't even get off the plane when it stops. We normally don't do that, but every once in a while SW offers such a good deal on that route that we take them up on it.

I'l join! Our dates are 3/5 - 3/14.

The best I'm seeing so far is $323 on Spirit which seems really high. And there is an added complication of my 23 year old DD not being sure if she can go for the whole week since she just started at her job a few months ago. I told her that I'm going to grab a good fare when I saw one and if she wasn't ready to commit yet we'll just have to buy hers later.

We're hoping to be able to do a non-stop since last time we flew to WDW we had a stop in Chicago on American and ended up being stuck there 6 hours.

I'm obsessively monitoring various airfare websites and I have several alerts set. Maybe I'll get lucky for once. I was able to get the 4/3 deal and that's the first time I ever got a deal on my room.

I'm hoping Airtran posts some web specials soon. And there is a rumor that they may release another $25 off coupon, which would really help. We will probably book a one way for our flight to WDW, with Spirit, and then just wait for a little bit to see what Airtran is going to do. Plus I like the nonstop flight time for Airtran for our return, because it does not leave so early in the morning. I tried to talk DH into taking a late return flight but since we both have to work the next day and the dogs will need picked up from the kennel...he declined.....actually he said "No way"!

We are hoping to travel 3/31-4/11. Right now the lowest rates I have found are $1,900 for three of us. :scared1: If it does not go down there will be NO trip:sad1:
