Anyone else waiting for a SW sale for December???

Michelle, our May trip was great but hotter than we like and more crowded. We're looking forward to our November trip! Doing the 10/31 halloween party. We've gone every November since Calie was 5 and while I hate to take her out of school I can't resist. Am glad this year we'll miss Jersey week, super soaps and vets day so crowds should be low!

Would be fun to go more into Christmas time like you are and see it fully decorated.

On cc, I'm over on the Princess forums. We're doing a 7 night over spring break. REALLLLLY looking forward to that.

Take care and see you 'round the net. Xing my fingers that we both get a SW break soon!

Sharon

I gave up on waiting for SW- getting too nervous- I DONT want to drive down. I ended up booking Allegiant Air fo r$69 each way. Last year I got $28 each way on SW, but that was in Nov. (day after Thanksgiving). I also got the ding in Sept. of last year and they still havent sent any to me (already October now) that are past Nov. 15th. I was just getting too nervous waiting for the Dec. 16-23 dates that I need. I was more concerned about getting a flight back on the 23rd, the Sat. before Christmas. Guess we will find out how Sanford airport is. I am just sick that we cant use Magical Express!!

Not waiting anymore. I just booked through Delta at $187.10 each rt. Not great but at least its booked. We got great flight times too (as long as they stay there). Not real happy about SW holding out their sales for so long. That's ridiculous. I've had the hotel booked since January but can't get my airfare until a month before the trip? Then if the prices don't actually go down I'm stuck paying full price since all the other airlines have gone up.

Our last couple of DINGs haven't been so great either. $109 each way. That's not that cheap to me.

Oh well, at least we're going!

We need 12-13 and the return 12-18 and those flights are wide open. :

How can you tell the flights are wide open? I've never been able to find anything on SW that will show me available seats. :confused3

I think she means that no flights on those days are unavailable for even the cheapest rates.

;)

Hi, Waiting also!! :surfweb: For 12/17-22 PVD to MCO. I did purchase my return flight at $135. because I wanted to come home in the morning and did not want to take a chance that the flight would sell out at the lowest price.(will take a credit if price becomes lower) Waiting on the 17th because that day is wide open and we have more flexibility flying into MCO timewise. Seems strange to still be waiting for airline tickets because everything else for our Dec.trip is all set! I could have purchased Continental today for $92.(all included)OW,but no nonstop flights out of PVD. ( except on SWA) Hopefully there will be a SALE on SWA and I will not have to rely on a DING! (sometimes I forget to check during the day  ) Joan

Sharon,

I will pulling Josie out of school 3 days for our December trip. That is about the max I will take her out though..Too much homework!! :sad2:

We did MNSSHP on Oct 31 in 2003 and we just had the best night!!!

We are doing the Christmas party this year.... :woohoo:

I don't know what is up with SW??? They really are holding out till the last minute for the sales. Luckily all flights on my days are available which makes me feel confident that I will get some sort of sale or a DING! I would be happy with $79 at this point.

I have my whole trip planned and paid for too. Everything except the flights! That is frustrating!!

I'm waiting on lower prices out of Louisville. There just aren't any. Last time I checked, it was like $235 RT and I don't want to fly Delta because they use the smaller planes. We like the two hour flights and flying SW. We're going 12/2 and I don't like waiting like this. I like to know I have the tickets.

Just curious. . . could you tell me if the $187 fare was higher and then went down to $187? I bought my tickets on US Air for $234 ($99 each way) because I was too impatient to wait for SWA (which turned out to be a good thing because the cheapest they had for the dates I needed was $287 with crappy flight times). My friend is trying to book for the same week as me and I am hoping that Delta or US Air might drop in price as we get closer. Right now we are five months out and they have dropped just a little. From looking at the seating charts on my US Air flight they are not even half full yet so I am thinking maybe in Nov or Dec we might see some lower prices. Thanks!

We are waiting for Dec 8-16 out of New Orleans. We are hoping for $59 or less each way. We were lucky enough to get $28 each way this past January but I doubt that will happen again. It must have been a hurricane special to get people to fly to and from New Orleans after Katrina.

you BET we are.......checking daily 2x or more.....havent even done a ressie till i get some decent air fare.I would be happy with anything under $150.00 RD trip out of MDW....I hate driving...DH loves it............

Finally a STL/MCO ding for November but the only one good for Sunday, 11/5, @$94.00 o/w is the very first flight of the morning at 8am. We have a 4pm flight now. So we'd loose 8 hrs of vacation for a total savings/credit of $130.

nahh. Not a big enough savings for that.

I am waiting for a Jan sale! i booked our trip down because we are flying the Fri of MLK weekend.I had credit so I booked just in case at $135 one way!!!!yikes!!! I will hope to cancel to a better rate. Last year we paid $49 ea way and I booked it in OCT.

that's when we're flying down too, only I haven't booked our flights yet. I'll probably be kicking myself later for it :guilty: but I hope not

Which flight are you guys on??

Sorry I really don't know what they were. We normally fly out of Louisville but I just happened to check the surrounding airlines on Expedia and it came up with Cincinnati being the cheapest. So I checked Delta's website and sure enough Cincinnati was A LOT cheaper than Louisville. At the time I booked the flights we wanted out of Louisville were going for $388 each rt. I booked them for $187 each rt.

Delta fluctuates so much all the time. Originally the flights we were hoping for from Louisville were going for $265 each rt but when I booked the Cincy tix the Lville tix were up to $388. That was just morning to evening difference. They had been $265 when I checked that AM and were up when I checked in the evening. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to their pricing.

Me too, I'm waiting for a SW Ding. We travel Dec 2nd and they've been having $39 one ways from Chicago!! I am hoping for that as well!!!

lol as i book for my boss regularly - my experience is that the flights will drop about 2-4 weeks before the flight, and within a week will quadruple as the business travellers will begin to book. So a £100 flight would drop to say £50-60 with 2-4 weeks left and then upto around £200 within the last week.

Might be different with US airlines, but thats my experience. :3dglasses

Question about this: If I book for 4 seats in January now, and then find sale or ding rates, I know I can get a credit back. My question, are these credits for the person named on the ticket only, or for the person who paid.

What I want to do is book, rebook at a cheaper rate, get the credit, and then use the credit to book flights for just me and DH, not the other 2 who are flying. Can this be done?

An agent from SW told me if you do one booking you will get 1 confirmation number for the whole booking so the credit would go to the confirmation number and it can be applied anywhere.
