Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone else is in total panic mode? I've read in the paper and heard on the news that the airlines "in general" are going to institute a substantial increase on all airfares beginning 5/1/06.

I've been looking for airfares and they are basically the same as they have been for the last 5 or so months. I have tentatively set a reservation that they will hold for 14 days (mailing in travel vouchers). I was wondering if anyone else is panic buying as well?

Should I wait for specials, should I hold out in case the rates don't go up, what should I do?? Any help would be appreciated. BTW, the amount I'm spening on my tickets from Denver are only $100.00 more than the least we've paid in the last year.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, I just went into panic mode today. We only fly SW, so if the price goes down I can get credit for our December trip. The price had not gone down at all sice being released, first August dates. The return trip price, just released this week is the same price. All dates are $30 higher then I normally pay each leg, but I am really afraid prices might go higher then $60 round trip, so I paniced and bought, even though I said I would wait, more empty seats more sales, but I gave in.

Nope. I rushed to reserve my trip, and now I'm playing 'chicken' with the airlines. On the flipside of the CNN report, some analyst or other said that once the Delta pilot issue is definitely resolved, Delta will have a fare sale to bring back passengers.

The rumor has it the airlines next fuel contract expires that day, the airlines usually lock in the price of fuel for at least 6 to 9 months, with that logic prices after Nov 1st at the earliest should been affected. Look out for Dec fares! :sad2:

I got my airfare for August yesterday through AirTran. The price was cheaper than I am used to paying and I was glad to have one more thing "done" for the trip! The best part is that we have a direct flight from Westchester.
