Today seemed like a rotten day to start. But tomorrow (1/2) the household is back in the usual "routine". Kids back to school, me and DW back to regular office hours, etc. I am going to change my lifestyle by:

1) eating less refined sugar
2) exercising 25 minutes 4 times a week (gotta start somewhere)
3) losing 20 pounds by Valentine's Day. (trying to get from Pooh-sized to Smee-sized)

Anyone else entering a new challenge tomorrow -or perhaps did today?

I've been following a much healthier diet for several months now but I've let it slip slightly during the holdiays. Tomorrow I intend to crack down on myself and eat very healthy from now on.

breaking the household expenses into 4 weekly increments, taking the cash out of the bank each week and putting it into envelopes. doing the same for the gas/work expenses. going to see if this will save money and help us keep better track of where it's going to.

going to plan more meals that will result in leftovers (saves on lunch expenses as well as better able to control calories).

going to get on clearing out all the junk and clutter. 3 categories-toss, save, review (all papers going into one/one million :goodvibes boxes to be gone through at a future date).

We are starting off the new year by moving out of a crowded subdivision and onto our own 7 1/2 acre place - complete with barn!! I'm looking forward to a lifestyle change for our whole family - slower paced, lots more time outdoors, learning how to grow things...I'm packing now and we move on Wednesday!!!

Not eating out as much. We girls at work estimated that we spend $2000 each going out to eat in 2005. We have a fully functional kitchen at the shelter. We are going to start using it 4 days a week this year and only going out to lunch one day per week.

I'm going to eat less sugar, get more exercise and eat out less often.

If I do this (even most of the time), I will be healthy and wealthy :teeth:

I would love to lose some weight this year. 20 would be great!

I also want to be in control of the clutter. And to use my time more wisely. And be a better friend. And....
I have a very long list!

Actually, my biggest and most serious change will be my relationship to God. This I keep struggling with. No doubts or anything serious like that. Just devotion and obedience and stubborness on my part. Why be stubborn with God? I don't know. Here I am offered a relationship, getting to have a relationship with the Almighty God through Christ and I *fight* it? Ugh! I hope I'm not alone in this struggle...

But, for me, THAT is the biggie this year.

Good luck with your changes!!!

Go running everyday. I should be out there right now, but it's cold :cold:

Not really for any New Years resolution but we're joining the local Y this week as a better way to get our exercise routine down (not to mention that we don't own a hot tub and it's not on our remodelling list this year - but the Y has hot tubs!!)

Congratulations!!! We live on 10 acres and love it. It is such a nice feeling to have all that land around that you can do whatever you want with.

I started this past Sept. making life styles changes so it wouldn't be such a shock to my system Jan. 1.

Plus our local YMCA will be so nuts the next 2 weeks, I plan on walking because it will be a 2 hour wait to get on any machine.

I plan on balancing my life in 06....I have spent too many years focusing on everyone else....It is time for me to get a balance of the things that are important, which include the things I have been focused on.....but I am going to include "me" time, time to grow spiritualy, get more exercise, healthy eating (takes time to prepare), and spend more quality time with dh.

That sounds like me. I was doing very well until Thanksgiving. Then I just let myself enjoy the season without the guilt (OK not too much guilt). Somehow I have managed not to gain any weight. Now it's back to healthy eatting and more moving. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it.
