My fiance and I started living raw on 8/16 and wondering if any other DISer's out there have choosen this lifestyle. If so post I'd love to find some others who are eating the raw diet and to give each other encouragement, share our success, etc.

I'm down 7.6 pounds since Thursday already. :thumbsup2

I tried and felt better but didn't lose any weight. Kind of abandoned it just b/c I didn't want to keep it up.

I have a friend who has been raw since May and she has lost 30 pounds. She looks great! She says she does cheat a little. I didn't have a chance to ask her how. She was 100% raw. So I assume her cheating brings her to "high raw".

I found Alissa Cohen's website to provide fabulous information and a discussion board for all of your raw inquiries.

I was eating us out of house and home in fruits and veggies. Plus I will start training for a marathon soon and couldn't find any reliable information on how to accomplish that raw. I am back to a healthy South Beach Diet. Starting in Phase II today. Using some of what I learned of being raw, I hope to incorporate it into SBD.

Agave Nectar is your friend!

My friend makes this wonderful raw chocolate treat. Raw Cacao ("chocolate"), and dates and I think almonds of course....she had a raw coconut and agave nectar combo and I combinde those. It was absolute heaven. It feels like eating an almond joy but so good for you.

Good luck!

Wow that treat sounds great. I went to the Sun Seed Food CoOp today to see what kind of raw foods they carry and it was a bit limited but there were tons of Organic and Vegan foods.

Tonight we "cheated" a bit, we had summer sushi wraps, lettuce, carrots, avacado, and a piece of steamed shrimp (which was the cheat part). With a side of tomatoe/jalapeno/corn salad (all uncoooked/raw). It was a nice change to the salad and I can't imagine 1 shrimp would hurt me that much.

I did purchase some raw honey today, ouch that was expensive, but I've been reading that it has loads and loads of health benefits so I'll be adding it to my smoothies. Also some coconut milk.

If you can recall the mix of how to make the treat, measurements, etc I'd love it, as I bought some Chocolate Treat today at the CoOp and it was $2.49for a tiny pack. It was only raw cocao and raisins all organic.

As luck would have it, I don't have the recipe :(

But google a "raw fudge" (I think she called it fudge) and you should be able to find something. For the coconut part, you just mix shredded raw coconut with some agave--she made hers somewhat liquidy (i.e. you could pour it out of a container). She put it in the fridge for an hour before serving. My girls LOVE coconut and agave.

Alissa Cohen also has a "cook"book that is supposed to be wonderful.

If you go here, you can order some food..a bit expensive, but for the non fruity stuff that require special handling, if you buy enough it isn't that bad. The banana balls are fabulous. If you want to try before you order, the organic market on A1A beachside sells their stuff. Blanking on the name right now! Eeek! When I think of it I can let you know.

If your order from them, you don't have to do the overnight shipping. But be warned, even though we live in Florida, my fruity stuff (the pies) didn't fare well, especially the strawberries. So if you order that stuff, I would overnight it. They are totally worth trying out and a nice way to supplement your raw lifestyle until you get to creating that wonderful stuff on your own.

I don't have a dehydrator or a food processer, so my ability to craft tasty treats at home is quite limited.

Wow - that is so great that you and your husband are going to be raw. I have really bad food allergies and spent last fall raw. I have written a contract with myself that I will be raw for 6 months. I never felt better in my life - so why did I stop I frequently ask myself? Because it is tough socially - and a lot of work. My 6'5" 180 lb DH also needs all the calories he can get so it makes it kind of hard. He does support me and went to the raw restaurants.

I have almost all the books and will be happy to forward you some recipes. This would be good motivation for me. I have at least 75 lbs to lose. I have a good fudge that involves a jar of almond butter and a little coconut butter. I am at Disneyland but can send the recipe when I get home.

Oh I would love some recipes. I don't have a food processor yet, so I'm looking for simple ones.

I've also lost over 16 pounds now, it's been great!

I try often to be completely raw but it just is too hard to maintain for me. I am Vegan though.

2angelsinheaven - Are you still "doing" raw? Still having great results? :goodvibes

For the millionth time I am ready to get this weight off  I have never tried eating a raw diet though, and Monday I started to try to eat at least 75% raw. Then I thought I'd do a search to see if anyone here on the DIS had posted about it, and saw your pictures showing your great results and wondered if you were still going strong? Do you exercise a lot also?

DH & I are going on a cruise in December with another couple, and my friends DH is a "fat nazi" (like the "soup nazi" on Seinfeld) - what I mean by that is that he has to make comments about every single pooh sized person that he sees :scared1: and I just want to be out of his line of fire this time. Plus I need to feel better about myself too. ;)

At least I am trying to lose some weight a little ahead this time - usually when we go on vacation it's always about 2 weeks before we leave that I get really inspired and then it's way too late! :rotfl2:
