Anyone else in the 9 month cruise wormhole on TikTok?

I saw a girl's insta on how she set up her cabin. And then a fella's insta on his complaints of how many times the staff come by his table in the buffet and ask him if he's okay and it drives him nuts. I also read that some aren't too happy and want off. Maybe I can take a little trip down the wormhole and find out more. My husband wants to do a leg (the LA to Dubai leg) of that cruise sooooo sooooo badly. We are only 50 and still working so maybe someday. But we cruise a lot and I am a 4-5 night cruiser and get antsy on anything longer and, MOST DEFINATLY, could never do that long without a balcony. I'd probably want to throat punch the hubby before the end of it so....be interesting to see how others are faring on it.

Marc Sebastian wanted off and then he didn't and then he has a huge crying meltdown and then he didn't was off and now, it looks like he is getting off after less than 3 weeks

Cliff Notes Version

The majority of the people on the cruise are regular cruisers. Many of them are various levels of Royals Crown & Anchor Society. Most of them are Royal cruisers who have been on a huge amount of cruises and wanted something a bit different. In this group theres a few retired couples who are vlogging on YouTube, BZ Travel and Living Phase 2.

Then theres a group of younger social media content creators, many of whom have never been on any cruise before. They are there are as its good content and they can monetize the content Alot of the drama is around them, they are posting mainly to tik tock, which is getting a lot of publicity. Alot of the drama is due to them not knowing cruise culture in general and not understanding things that happen on cruises all the time. Things like people being seasick, or ports being missed due to bad weather or how cruise loyalty programs work, as in how top levels get to do things first time cruisers cant, and have a special lounge etc etc.

Marc Sebastian didnt even pay for his cruise. He is being sponsored, by a book company, as in the book company paid for his cruise. He has never been on an cruise before. He is only on a segment of the cruise.

Also some of the drama is around the people who are there for the whole 9 months and the people who are only doing a segment of the cruise. Like on any cruise theres meet up groups. People who are only doing a segment of the cruise are not happy they are not in the meet up groups the 9 months people have set up.

I think he was only scheduled to be on for one 18 day mini segment

Have not seen any of the actual world cruisers wanting off. Has anyone else? Never mind that none of them are being held prisoner.

Yeah, it was the Marc guy I saw a video of in the buffet complaining about the music and the staff stopping by his table all the time. In reading an article now I see this quote of his. Total rabble rousing pot stirring jerk. Some company hired him just to go on this and cause trouble to spike their ratings (some book company)...I don't do tik tok. But here's this quote of his...
“I wanted to stick out like a sore thumb,” he said. “I wanted to dress like an evil supervillain because I wanted to stand out amongst the insanity that is this cruise, which is basically just like, old people. It’s like a floating retirement home attached to a Chili’s.”

He states he planned to cause as much trouble as possible. Way to ruin something people paid a lot of money for and actually find enjoyment of when he has ZERO interest in that kind of trip. Royal should have booted him off the cruise. Said he got an 18 day leg booked by that company (which I thought all the legs were like 2-3 months or something). What a piece of work.

Another quote of his..
“It’s literally the most disgusting ship,” he said, “I feel like I’m living in an Olive Garden. And I did it for the views.”
Pretentious fella. I guess that's what he makes money doing. He draws the moths to the flame on Tik Tok so he does what he gets paid to do and I guess does it well. But I bet all those passengers are now glad he's off, as well as the cruise staff and Royal Caribbean itself.

Correct. He only got 18 days on the Ultimate Americas Segment part of the cruise paid for by the book company.

I think we can all agree that we won't miss Marc but you gotta love Joe who is "spending his kids inheritance" We are all Joe's kids now.

it would have been a big mistake for Royal to remove him.

I don't really understand the connection between him and Atria (a division of Simon and Schuster) or why Atria would want to get involved with the cruise in the first place, but I doubt I'm their demographic

Something about him doing book club on the cruise. But he hates reading so they thought his tik toks could pull in the younger folks who don't like to read books. Kinda stupid because if they dont like to read, they still wont read...but hits on their site are up and the book he selected is selling a ton. But all that is temporary once this guy's done posting his daily cruise shenanigans.

I don't get this. Why are people on a cruise they don't want to be on?
they aren't. tiktokker was there for 18 nights to promote himself and his sponsor. No sign the rest of the passengers want off.
Wonder how he/his sponsor would feel about it if others made it their goal to ruin his/their vacation/s for fun?

BZ Travel and Living Phase 2 are two channels I've been following. They're interesting - but also not looking for drama.

I'm not on TikTok, so the rest of the drama stuff I'm unaware of (well, I haven't watched it myself). No interest in that stuff.

I don't get this. Why are people on a cruise they don't want to be on?
I keep going on flipping cruises and i can’t stand them. It’s temporary insanity. I’ve been on 8 cruises. the last 2 were the 2 worst vacations of my life. I can’t wait to never go again so if you see me talking about yet another cruise in a few years….I went temporarily insane…again.

This sounds like an entertaining waste of time. Can everyone share who they are following on which social media?

Why?

Temporary insanity. I explained that above :rotfl2: Seriously I went on a 9 day mother daughter cruise with my daughter last year. It was awful, swore I’d never go again so this year I went with DH on a 10 day cruise. Got RSV, missed 4 of the 5 ports and was quarantined for 4 days. Hopefully I learned my lesson this last time. We shall see.

Biggest issue? I get sea sick 👍🤣

Mentioned a couple times on the thread, but on YouTube, I've subscribed to BZ Travel and Living Phase 2 and just recently found a channel called Frugal Vagabond, who is mostly doing daily shorts on YouTube.

Maybe an all-inclusive resort for a week would be a better fit next time.

I love Ultimate World Cruise Tok!! I follow Dr. Jenny Travels but most of the younger "influencers" pop up on my For You Page. I almost ended up on North Sea TikTok but quickly averted that.
