Just curious if any special treatment was given. ( NOT that I expect anything):confused3 I have heard from friends that stayed at the Poly, they were upgraded without asking....just wondering if being DVC members would lower those chances. Anyone know?

I gave a point stay to friends for their honeymoon. They were not upgraded. They received a card, small flower bouquet, and a balloon from the front desk.

In the parks, they received some nice random magic. A few "use anywhere" fast passes from a CM and a free on-ride photo at one of the attractions. A glass of champagne at one of the restaurants, and free dessert at two restaurants. Your mileage may vary, the pixie dust is random...that what makes it magical.

But for accommodations, I wouldn't expect anything major like an upgrade on a points stay. Maybe you'll get lucky :)

We got married at Disney and honeymooned there. Like Chuck S said, no upgrade. But there were balloons, signed cards, etc. I didn't even get freebies (desserts and such) because I fell ill during our honeymoon... :lmao:

Congrats and Have Fun!!!

For our Honeymoon we did not use points, because we were not DVC members yet, and we were upgraded to Concierge at the Disneyland Hotel and at the Contemporary Resort. We paid for Concierge level at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris. For our 10th anniversary we used points at the Grand CA, BWV, and Disneyland Hotel in Paris. Tokyo Disney was not allowing us to use points back then so we had to pay for our stay there. We did not receive upgrades at any of the hotels, but we received balloons, cupcakes, and signed pictures in our room at the different hotels.

Disney seems to be doing a bit more this year as it is their theme.....
We will be on a cruise a few days before our 7 year Anniversary and were magically given a 3 catagory upgrade when we checked our room # online. We did pay cash and did not say anything when we booked the cruise but did let DVC know as we will be in Disney on the day. In the end all reservations seem to be connected and they are all under my DVC sign in so if I have access to both I am sure they do as well. MS and Dining did make a big deal as to how many years etc.
I know there will be no upgrades with DVC but I am sure we will get a card :lmao:

Hmmm... when we honeymooned DVC was still 20 years away. We did go to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. They wouldn't let us enter the casinos though because we were only 18 at the time.

So... how old does that make us now?

It makes you a kid, Rob. ;) I'm still older than you. I'm about four years older.

We also went to Paradise Island for our honeymoon (three months after the wedding because neither of us could get the time off). That was 27 years ago (and DVC was still 10 years away) and I was no teenager.

We paid cash for our disney wedding/honeymoon stay 18 months ago. No upgrades at all - they're completely random and obviously limited by other guests bookings even when paying cash. For DVC I'd assume it's even less likely. We did get a card, balloons, and a split of champagne in our room throughout the week. We also got free champagne at LeCellier and some any attraction fast passes in MK. Other than that we got lots of congratulations from guests and CM's and it was fantastic!!

I'll leave the math to those who understand it. :upsidedow

I noticed you are going to Yellowstone. Is it this Christmas? We're seriously considering going in 2010. Hope to get some good tips and info from you. Sorry to the OP for going off topic.

Yes, we arrive at Mammoth on Dec 21, spend one night, then three nights at Old Faithful Snow Lodge, then back to Mammoth for three nights. We're flying in and out of Billings. We made our reservations in mid Aug and got the last nights available in the rooms with baths at Mammoth. We had to juggle our nights to get three nights at the Snow Lodge because Christmas night was already gone.

Yellowstone in winter would be a great Honeymoon destination (to get this back on the theme). Nothing like doing a lot of snuggling in the frigid weather.

My daughter did 5 days in a BWV BW view 1 BR on our points then went to HI for 10 days as a delayed honeymoon a few months later. Kind of beats our 5 nights in Panama City in a hotel room almost 30 years ago.
