We get our high speed internet service from Time Warner Cable (Roadrunner) and it's about the worst service I have ever paid for. They are the only game in town so we are stuck with this server (ISP)...
Anyone else from Upstate NY that has this service?Every time I call they say it's on my end...bull...they keep playing with the service on their end.I'm to the point where I think I'm going to put in a complaint and have them investigated.
Anyone else have terrible high speed service for their computer?
Sorry for the rant.
Debbie

That's pretty-much standard practice, everywhere. I believe ISPs tend to fall back on that because it is so often true. We have had to become techies ourselves just to be able to push back effectively enough to get service from our ISP when it is their fault.

I could post the same as you but I'd be complaining about MY service here in Michigan!

I pay $45 a month for high speed (cable) internet service and it stinks! I am constantly watching the cable light blink on and off then go completely off!!!
I've written so many letters to them and complained about terrible service.
How convenient for them to just say it's on my end...(that's what they tell me every time I write or call).
I hate dial up so I'm going to have to suffer until they get another high speed ISP that services my area.
Damn...

wow, we just moved from saratoga springs and had nothing but a wonderful experience with Time Warner. Now that we are in MA and in the land of Comcast I am so disgruntled. I've never had problems with a company like I have with Comcast.

Sorry to hear you are having issues!

I don't even get high speed where I live!!! Talk about frustrating! And I"m upstate Vermont. Not far from you I'm sure.

I have Timewarner (Roadrunner) and have had nothing but good success with it! Are you sure it's not the computer?

We also have time warner and other than a few times of planned outage we haven't had a problem with our road runner service...unless you count the cost as a problem! :rolleyes1

I'm also in the Saratoga area and would give Time Warner a good to excellent rating. Sure, we've had problems in our 6 years with them, but guess what, both times it WAS on our end (modem and router). The serviceman came within a day or two, was polite, and got it all fixed up in a short time.

However, I am in close e-mail contact with a friend in Western NY and her experience with Road Runner is much less satisfactory. Lots of outages. I'm not sure if she's had a service call yet, there's too many days she can't even get online. ;)

I live in upstate NY and have Adelphia high speed internet service. I have no complaints. :)

Yes - at my DD's house.. Every time we called they would say it was on "our" end until finally I talked to someone else and he explained how there can be occasional problems with the router needing to be reset from here.. He told me to unplug it for 10 seconds and then plug it back in again.. Presto! Works every time.. Probably have to do it once every 3 weeks or so, but at least it's not the endless hassles of phone calls that result in no progress at all..

As for Adelphia - I'll be switching to that when I go back up to the lake in April and I sure hope it's as good as I've heard.. My dial-up there (through the telephone company) is SOOOOO slow, I could literally click on a page, go to the country store 2.8 miles down the road and by the time I got back, the page "might" be loaded..

We have timewarner (Roadrunner) and had nothing but problems but I refuse to go back to dial-up service. We went one weekend a couple weeks ago without any internet-MLK Jr weekend and had to wait till Tuesday to fix the problem. Come to find out our modem was bad. YOu may want to ck that out. They kept on telling us that it was due to too too many splits in the cable (we have 2). I don't think it was that at all as we have been fine since replacing the modem. I called on Saturday and they told me I had to wait till Thursday for someone to come out to give us a new modem. My husband went on Tuesday to Port Ewen to p/u a new modem. I wouldn't wait for them to come out. Take a look at the modem. Maybe request to replace it. Just an idea.
