Anyone else have a SO who turns into a big baby when he or she gets a cold?

You mean some aren't?!?!?!?  ;)

My Dad was like that, my DH is like that, my DS is like that . . . of course, their SOs keep going like the Energizer Bunny.

On October 29th, I came home feeling like crap. It was the night of the boy scout Halloween party, so I asked my DH to take the kids alone so I could lay down. Well, I cleaned up from the quick and easy grilled cheese that we have on boy scout night, then looked for DH's cell phone that he lost, and got stuck on the phone with one of his relatives... darn that phone that doesn't have caller ID (has since been replaced with a "good" phone.) By the time they got back, it was time to do homework and get them ready for bed. Come to think of it, I didn't lay down at all for the rest of the week either.

The next week, I still felt beaten up, and DH came down with the same thing. He was in bed every night after dinner until the next morning. He'd get bursts of energy when he had to do something for work or something for one of his friends, but the rest of the time, he was in bed.

I vow NOT to teach my DS the same thing. There are responsibilities that must be accomplished whether you're sick or not. A cold that makes you feel achy doesn't warrant making anyone believe that you're on your deathbed. IMO, you've got to pick when you're sick enough to warrant staying in bed. Otherwise, you're just the boy who cried wolf.

When my husband was sick, he'd come home, go to bed and wouldn't move until he was better.

LOL

My ex-husband was always a big baby when he was sick, even with just a stomach ache. He would moan and groan and then call off work and stay in bed all day except to get himself something to eat.
When I was sick, I would ask him to just keep an eye on the children so I could rest, well every 15 minutes or so, one of them would come back to the bed room to see how mommy was doing, or how I was feeling. I always get a kick out of someone coming back into the bed room asking "are you asleep yet".
.
My son is not as bad, but he went through the stomach ache thing to get out of school, he is 20 now and thankfully out grew it in high school. My daughter is like me, if she wakes up and does not feel well, she takes a shower and usually goes to school. If she asks to stay home, I know she really is sick.
