Anyone else have a boss without a clue?

I just have to vent. My boss is a real piece of work. He just has no clue when it comes to anything. He asks you a question, you answer it, he asks you the exact same question 2 minutes later. Constantly!!! You tell him something, he disagrees with you then says exactly what you said in another way, and believes he is correct. We are having an issue with staff retension (because of him). Recently, we interviewed a gal that he seemed to love. I didn't feel very comfortable with her peer interview. Nor did one of my other co workers. My co worker put 2 and 2 together and realized this gal may be the same gal that worked with one of her friends at another hospital. She called her friend, and confirmed that this girl had the same first name, the exact same stature (she is 4'8", somewhat heavyset) had two children 20 and 7, got married on August 31, and worked in Vegas previously. This gal was fired from the last hospital she worked at because she was a slacker and troublemaker, and a pathological liar. She told everyone at the other hospital she was married to one of the surgeons there, and that her 7yo son was his, but he denies it. She told us her husband was a tuckpointer! Now we brought this to our bosses attention, and realistically, I understand that he has to be absolutely sure this is the same girl. Unfortunately he had already extended her an offer. UGH! The plan was to have this gal come in, have her ID picture taken and show it to one of the doctors that works at the other hospital. When she came in our HR department asked her if she had ever worked at this other hospital. She denied it. When HR called the other hospital, they ran her SSN and confirmed she did indeed work there for 3 weeks and was let go. So now this girl has incriminated herself. When we showed the doctor her picture (it was a terrible picture as all IDs are) he said it might be her but he couldn't be sure because her hair was dyed blond. Now our boss is still saying he can't be sure it is the same girl, that maybe she was the victim of identity theft! I mean come on! Let me run it down for him... The girl that was fired worked in Vegas, got married on Aug 31, has 2 kids ages 20 and 7, is 4'8" and heavyset, the SSN, and the maiden name match the info she gave to our HR...Does he need to be hit over the head? I can understand him trying to be professional and politically correct, but the sad part is.....he truly believes this may not be the same girl. I don't know how much longer I can take the insanity! I am working for a moron.

Oh my gosh do you work in my office. Rant and rave away I sure do. I hate my boss he is so arrogant, useless, high maintenance, and has this strange obsession of talking baout money all the time bc he thinks it impresses people.

Hard to work under those conditions. Maybe he's going through something in his personal life and unable to make sound decisions or focus or has he been like this for a long time?
