We haven't picked exact dates yet but we might be heading down around Aug 14 for 4 or 5 nights....taking advantage of free dining :thumbsup2

I have never been in August before, just how hot and humid will it be. We went in September one year and man was it hot.

Also how are crowds? I believe most US schools are back in school early in August....am I right???

I am so excited!!!!

We are also going in August--14-21 at Pop and 21-28 at AKL. We are so excited because it is our first time at a deluxe! We have never gone in August either and I am a bit apprehensive. We were scheduled to be there right now but had to cancel due to a medical emergency. Everything is OK now but I can't fly just yet so we booked August which is the only other time we can go. We have two weeks so even if we just go to the parks in the evenings, hopefully it won't be too hot then. Anyone have any advice about August heat??

The past two years we did 3 night stays in mid August and it was HOT. We are Floridians so we might be more used to it but it was HOT. You are right that most Florida Schools go back in early August but I believe that the rest of the country goes back after Labor Day. So there will be some crowds. Our plan every day was to hit the park early and/or late. We always went back to the resort mid-day for a swim or did other things like resort hop. We also had to put up with afternoon rain so be prepared.

I hope that I am not dampening your spirits. I just think if you come prepared and expect it you won't be disappointed.
It can and most likely will be as Magical as an time. Hey you are at WDW........

We were there for 10 days last Aug 18-28 and are going again 14th-27th this year.Hot?hmmm..depends on your idea of hot :sunny: It was typically 100+ most days, but the dining plan was great when 9free) meals were booked for the hottest part of the afternoons. All three kids did fairly well.Dress as cool as possible and be prepared for the almost daily thundershowers. We were lucky it was a bit windy most afternoons. The crowds were what i would describe as fairly light most days, except for one saturday. Not much of a wait for anything really.

We've been the past two augusts and are going back this year. The first year we went from teh 21st to the 30th and last year we went from the 11th to the 21st or something like that. We used an AP for both trips.

It is HOT. I got used to it, and we always spent the hottest hours of the afternoon sleeping in the room (Family naps! :) ) and/or swimming. We don't go hard on the parks with ds4 (was 2 and 3 past trips).

I noticed a difference in crowds from the first year to the second year. It seems to me that the later you go in August, the better. We're going from the 19th to the 28th this year. Crowds are pretty light. We would wait 10 minutes maybe for Buzz Lightyear for example. Some rides are still more crowded but in general, crowds were not a problem.

We've done POP and AKL - you'll LOVE AKL. I switched to CSR this trip to save a bit of money and also b/c we've done AKL twice. But it's the greatest.

Have fun! :)

:cool1:

Our family will be there from the 26th till Sep. 2. The last time we went in August we went we went around the same dates. It was bloody hot and I was pregnant with DD #2 . This time I am not preg. but will be travelling with my 1 year old son ( as well as my 2 DD).

The dining plan is what sold us the time of year. I would have liked to go in mid Sept. but my middle child will be starting JK this year and I don't want to pull her out just after she starts! Oh and this way we get to have my oldest DD and my birthdays at WDW. :woohoo:

We were there the last 2 weeks of Aug last summer....it's HOT!! I'm from Ontario and not used to the heat they have there but I did adjust after a couple of days. AK was really hot but the other parks aren't so bad because you are in and out of A/C all day. The one good thing about it is it's easy to pack because all you need is shorts and tees...no long sleeves!! :sunny:

I'm going!

August 28 - Sept. 4th, and staying at the ASMu :)

I am ECSTATIC! I have no idea what I'll do about the heat, but we'll figure something out :)

I'm a generally new, but fanatic Disney-er. It'll be my first time going with my boyfriend (first trip with him actually), and 1st REAL time to Disney (as in, the first time I'm old enough to appreciate everything and have a whole week).

Can't wait!

So.....when you say HOT, do you really mean HOT or just hot? Not sure that I understand. :confused3

I'm a teacher....I only do August (not counting: May '94 when I was on maternity leave with #5, January 2000 parent's only trip with DH, Marathon weekend when we 4 sisters were in WDW together to get the Donald....I KNOW HOT!!).
:lmao:

It's definately HOT and humid in August! It usually gets better in the afternoon, after the midday shower. I'm usually there during the first or second week of the month and it's pretty crowded.

I have a high tolerance for heat and humidity so I'll be going back at the begining of August :teeth:

We are going August 21 to morning of 29th , Boardwalk villas, then 2 nights at Universals royal pacific. We have done August last few years, when our oldest started high school. We actually enjoy it, yes its extremely hot, the sweat down your back type of hot. But theres the AHHHHHHHHHHHh factor when you go into a nice air conditioned attraction. Drink lots, wear nice comfy clothes, and enjoy.

What are the evenings like? Is it just as hot at night? I'm hoping when the sun goes down, we can play at the parks a bit more comfortably! Will this work?

We are going 6-14 Aug. Can't wait. Staying at Pop Century.
We went Aug 2003 and stayed at ASMo. We loved it.
It was pretty hot but when the showers hit in the afternoon,
it cooled us down. 2 boys and a husband. We are flying down
from Victoria BC.
